This package arrived in something of a state, appearing to have been previously opened and badly repacked. However every item inside, notwithstanding crumpled un-sealed bags and squashed accessory boxes, was in mint unused condition. I can only think it was returned by a previous purchaser because of its weight. Yes this thing is no lightweight, but I never expected otherwise.
The “bonus” shoulder harness is pretty useless and seems to have been made for a different tool. However two other items, not mentioned in the website listing are real bonuses – the separate ultra sharp hand saw on a pole, and a well crafted pair of bypass pruning secateurs. The manual does not mention either, and like the main trimmer, assembly instructions for the pole saw are left to one’s intuition (screws and screwdriver provided).
The trimmer blade was protected by a black plastic sheaf which took two of us to remove – not sure why it was such an impossibly tight fit. However, once removed everything came together in a most professional fashion, and I was able to immediately discover its workings in spite of the fact that the crumpled manual had a list of numbered parts that bore absolutely no relationship whatsoever to the numbers on the diagram (go figure!). It also had references to an extension cord (say what?).
The locking slider pole extension was smooth operating, unlike my pole lopper which is very tight, and the safety switch could be operated from either side of the trigger which was really helpful. In operation, this tool can be a bit cumbersome, but I think that is normal for all such devices where the business end of the thing is on the end of longish pole. The battery pack being at the bottom end, does provide some balance, but working up a folding ladder, as I was, requires you to leave about two or three rungs clear at the top end against which to brace your upper body.
Battery life is good, and all components seem to be solidly constructed. I can’t find anything really negative to say about the product other than the weird and uninformative manual. The price, when compared to the market, and the quality of build, coupled with the bonus implements, makes this product an unbeatable value.
