A huge improvement over the built in flash
I purchased this external flash for my wife's Fujifilm X-A1. For it's size it packs quite a punch and is capable of providing bright light on subjects. It is also capable of being used for bounce flash off of ceilings of small-moderate sized rooms. Very impressive for it's size! A HUGE improvement over the built in flash. The battery life is also excellent, as are the cycle times.I recommended this flash to another party who is also extremely satisfied with it.

Feels great, looks great, works perfectly on my Fuji GFX 50R. Doesn't add much weight or bulk given the body and lens (usually use it with the 45mm f2.8). It's about 300 grams without batteries. Keep in mind that the GFX 50R maxes out @ 1/125 flash sync speed, but that is fast enough for me for indoor portraits that are indoors and in low light.

I would like to give this 4.5 stars.
Why? This is a terrific flash for 'on camera' use. 5 stars for that.
'Off camera', not so much, just average, 4 stars.
For on camera use with my XT2, it is nearly perfect. High speed sync, weather resistant, seamless integration with camera electronics. While it might have been nice to have it a bit smaller, it feels much better than expected when mounted. Is it pricey? Maybe but it depends on what you compare it with. I think it is good value as long as you know what it does well and what the limitations are.
Off camera is trickier for Fuji at this point (Jan. 2017). I tried Cactus v6ii triggers and it was an exercise in frustration as I was unable to get proper TTL. Yes, you can buy a second ef-x500 unit but that is expensive and gives optical not radio control. So I use my '500' for on camera use and as a slave off camera in combination with a Nissin di700a with Air 1 Commander for off camera radio control flash. At this point, the Nissin does not support HSS for Fuji when used with the Commander but perhaps a firmware update will soon allow that? I love my XT2 and the lens 'ecosystem' of Fuji. When it comes to Fuji flash, it is still very much a work in progress, especially for off camera options. I would like to easily do radio controlled, HSS off camera flash but I will need to wait for that. More skilled flash users will simply go 'manual' with other triggers and less expensive flashes to get what they want. For now, I am very happy with the ef-x500 as an on camera flash and have a workable option as described for off camera. Hope this is helpful.

I was using the Godox X-Pro command on my Fujifilm cameras. But when Fujifilm released this commander I decided to give it a try and won't regret my decision. The most useful feature for me is that the power to the command is in sync with camera power. So you don't have to worry about powering on/off this command. Fujifilm command is much smaller and lighter than the Godox. Very useful purchase for me.
