So I love how simple and easy to use this is. I've had several different t fitbits over the years and loved them all. The Charge 6 gets a 4 out of 5 because the bands can come loose sometimes, the limited options for clock faces is limited and a larger variety would be nice but there is time I guess as this is new. The colors are bright, crisp and clear. Easy to use. I'd like a few more "Apps" to connect like the note pad from my versa lite 2 would be nice. An in case of emergency app, stuff like that. But all in all so far so good. The battery life is exceptional at this time; vibrations are strong and noticeable. Easy enough to use each tab and buttons. I do miss being able to switch the music from my phone up using it like my old one would do. I'm not into ANOTHER music app like the YouTube music it comes with. I've got to many options already. I'm not sure how I feel about the tab closure. I feel that little nub will break off so easily during use and fall off.But the price was exceptional and I love it.

The good:
- tracking accuracy
- comfortable, even to sleep with
- simple, easy to use
- battery life (I get a bit over a week with notifications disabled and screen off)
- 3rd party straps work well

The bad:
- app for iOS is not very responsive
- syncing is slow
- ugly clock faces
- no developer sdk for Charge 6's OS
- no way to disable certain activity types
- no floor climbing count

I still enjoy the watch even with the bad items listed above.

Update: There was no reply when I tried contacting Fitbit support about any of my products, so I'm returning this.

I purchased a Charge 5 earlier this year & had been very happy with it. Most important to me was the logging heartrate monitor, which works very well. A big bonus was the sleep logging, which also works very well. The Charge 6 still does these things well, but I can't see a reason to justify recommending it over the 5 (both go on discount, & the 5 is generally cheaper).

I'd also been glad to see that the 5 monitors SpO2 while asleep. Unfortunately, it won't do this while the person wearing it is awake (why they don't think that's an important enough feature to add, I don't know), and my hope that the 6 might support this was unfounded -- it appears to have the same drawback.

I've never owned a "smart watch" & the 5 was my first-ever fitness tracker. I wasn't expecting to have to own a current smartphone (I'd been using an old iPhone 4S for years, but it was too old to work with the Fitbit app, so I had to buy a new Android phone that supports it) just in order to use the thing (it literally will not do anything other than ask you to register it with your app if you don't have it connected to a proper smartphone w/ the app running). It was a good excuse for me to update my phone (something I'd needed to do for a while, but might be something to think about -- could be a dealbreaker for some) & the added functionality of it allowing for app notifications was huge. I didn't think I could get a vibration on my wrist every time I got a message, or for an event I had scheduled to be reminded of, etc. That added a lot of convenience to my life.

Now the huge downside -- Google effectively broke the software over the last few months. They bought Fitbit, overhauled the app & account system, pushed some firmware updates that are kind of janky, and now there are lots of people with non-working Charge 5s. Some are bricked -- I was lucky enough that my Charge 5 kept working, but my app notifications stopped functioning correctly. I've spent weeks going through their troubleshooting guides, doing things that are recommended to fix it, to no avail. I can no longer get notifications on my Charge 5 that I was able to just a couple of short months ago, & I paid ~$150 (Canadian dollars) for maybe 7 months of use before this functionality broke.

I saw the Charge 6 on sale for ~$150 (Canadian dollars) & I thought that "perhaps the app notification issue is just on the 5 -- if I try this new model, maybe I'll have that feature back." No such luck. It's still broken, and checking the forum, I see that many others have had the same problem for months across both models. It doesn't sound like Google's got too much of a priority on fixing it (why, I don't know), as the last time they posted anything about firmware was back in July. There are very few offers for technical support to the users, which is frustrating, given the size & profits of the company.

I will try posting about the issues on their forum & seeing if they can't help me sort it out on at least my end, but if that does not work, I will be returning the 6 and sticking with my 5. The few changes (YouTube Music, Google Maps directions, a screen magnifier, connecting to supported exercise machines) are not anything that I would use, and I don't think it's worth another ~$150 on top of the ~$150 I already spent this year to keep trying to use the features that they broke (and don't seem to be in a rush to fix). If you're in the market for a *new* fitness tracker, I'd say go ahead and get this one if it's on sale lower than the 5, but, as of right now, I cannot recommend it as an upgrade to Charge 5 users or as a new tracker to anyone who would be paying full price for it. If I choose to upgrade, I'm considering the Sense, instead (the Charge is already the best of their tracker lineup, a 7 probably won't be around for a very long time, the 6 just doesn't seem considerably different than the 5, & the Versa seems to have less features).

I started Fitbit with the original Charge. After the battery died, I got a Charge 4. It was ALWAYS a pain to sync the original. And MORE of a pain to sync the Charge 4. The Charge 4 back light eventually dimmed out. Now, with the Charge 6, syncing is a breeze! The screen is nice and bright. And such a relief! I track my activity all day, syncing several times a day. I am able to track more and see the results immediately. It's great!

Some of the things I don't like about it, is that 1) One reason I have it is to track my heart rate. I have some tachycardia (racing heart rate). I can be sitting in a chair and have my heart beating at 110 bpm. This is NOT good! But Fitbit will tell me that I'm doing GREAT by keeping my heart racing! Good thing I know better!!!! 2) Also, when it is giving credit for "exercise", it does not consider walking an exercise. At least not when it is automatically detected. You have to enter it manually for it to count as "exercise". 3) I hate that there is no option for "Calisthenics" on the watch (only in the app - IF you search for it). 4) I've tried to use google maps and youtube music, but all it says is to "start the app on your phone", which does absolutely nothing.

I thought that I wouldn't like the loop feature of the band, and that it would be uncomfortable... but I really like it. I liked my original better than the 4, but I like the 6 better than both. :D

The back plate fell off my charge 5, so I was forced to upgrade. Very similar to the charge 5, has a few extra settings that I don't really use, but are nice. Bands from the charge 5 fit the charge 6, but I have noticed that some don't click in and will not work.

I've had experiences with Fitbit for quite some time now. I originally started with the Alta. It was great for what it was, but wished it could do more. Not long after, I moved onto a Charge 2. It mostly satisfied what I was looking for with what it offered compared to the Alta (heart rate tracking, bigger screen, navigating beyond touch, more screen real estate, etc). As much as I liked it, there were still some flaws. One of the biggest annoyances was how it would get disconnected and I'd miss notifications. That's when I went with the Apple Watch (Series 2) and haven't been back since.

I had high hopes for the Charge 6 when it came out and was hoping Google would make big strides into improving what I remembered of the 2. It seemed to have all the checkmarks, except they took away the altimeter to count flights of stairs climbed. The first thing the product tells you to do when taking it out of the box is to open the Fitbit app to activate the Charge. I haven't opened the app in years so when I did, it told me to sign in. That's when I came to my first issue.

My original Fitbit account is no longer valid. I was forced to migrate my account to Google and there was some issues when attempting. It wasn't very smooth and took 2 attempts. OK, after that we need to get the App to talk to the Fitbit. Which leads me to the second issue.

For whatever reason, the Fitbit wouldn't connect to my phone. The App would recognize the Fitbit was nearby, but it wouldn't connect to it. I would open and close the app multiple times, along with toggling the bluetooth on/off on my phone, checking all permissions, and even restarting the phone. The app would see the device, so would the phone, but it just wouldn't connect. It finally connected after I upgraded my iphone to the newest ios (which was only one iteration newer and released a few days prior). I don't believe that's the true cause for my issue, but whatever. When the Fitbit connected, it then tried to upgrade it's firmware which lead to the third issue.

The Fitbit needs to be near the phone while the firmware is downloading. The device couldn't have been more than 2 feet from the Fitbit, but the download would disconnect. The download takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, but it failed on my the first 2 times. It completed successfully on the third attempt and now I can finally start using it.

Comparing this to my old Fitbits, the first thing is that the screen is beautiful. I like that it's smaller and a lot more refined than the Charge 2. I also like the fact that they have removed the character limit of text notifications (so I can see full message) and that I can go back to previous messages that were sent. This annoyed me before because what showed on the screen was only the last message truncated and if you didn't see it while it scrolled past, you can't see it anymore without pulling out your phone. You can see the past 10 notifications sent before it rolls over. I limit my notifications to only the basics like phone calls and text messages to maximize this functionality. The steps counter, sleep, and HR monitoring are what I would expect them to be. And the battery life is way better than an Apple Watch... I don't have to worry if I charged the watch the night before in order to use it.

Unfortunately, the added functionality from Google is also stunted. You can't respond (preset responses) to messages unless you have Android. New functionality like to control Youtube music app requires a paid premium account. The touchscreen isn't that responsive, causing me to swipe multiple times or just not respond at all. But the final straw is the connectivity. Too many times I would miss notifications because somehow connectivity was lost and wouldn't re-establish. Usually a re-sync with the app would resolve this, but only after I noticed something was wrong.

I really really wanted to like this device, but it would be too many compromises for this price. You can really see and feel the direction Google is taking with their acquisition, treating FitBit completely as secondary while incorporating the FitBit tech in their flagship Pixel watches. Especially with a $70 price cut a little over a month after release and them pulling Fitbit products from multiple countries. With all this, looks like I'll be upgrading to an Apple Watch Series 9 instead.
