Perfect for Streaming Enthusiasts without a Smart TV
I've been using the Fire TV Stick 4K Max for 2 years now, and it has completely transformed my non-smart TV. I got this device on a friend's recommendation to enhance my TV setup, and I couldn't be happier. I use it daily for streaming Netflix and Amazon Video, and occasionally for music. The Alexa voice commands make searching for shows so much simpler. It's great to make announcements to my streaming devices if I'm not in the room.Performance and Features:Storage: Initially, I faced storage issues due to having too many apps installed. Now, I stick to Amazon Video and Netflix, which solves the problem. Clearing the cache has helped, and I haven't seen the capacity message in months.Remote Design: The new remote with dedicated buttons for Netflix and other apps makes navigation super convenient, especially since Netflix is my primary app.Voice Commands: Alexa voice commands simplify the search process, and it’s great to use for general inquiries like weather updates or controlling smart home devices.Travel: Although I haven't used it for travel yet, it’s compact enough to take on work trips. It would be perfect for watching my favorite shows in hotel rooms instead of regular old TV programming.Specs Comparison:The Fire TV Stick 4K Max boasts a 40% increase in power over its predecessor. Here are some specific comparisons:Reboot Time: 40.92 seconds (4K Max) vs 1 min 6.86 sec (4K)Loading Netflix: 3 seconds (4K Max) vs 24 seconds (4K)CPU: 1.8GHz with a 750MHz GPU vs 1.7GHz with a 650MHz GPU in the 4K modelOverall, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is faster, more responsive, and offers a significant performance boost, especially for Netflix. If you're looking for a reliable and efficient streaming device, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

Configuration: Fire TV Stick 4K MaxVerified Purchase
Comparing the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max:

I purchased this product as an upgrade to the Fire TV Stick 4K I purchased in 2019. The two main reasons I upgraded were the addition of the Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ buttons on the remote for faster launching, and for the advertised 40% increase in power. I compared the Fire TV Stick 4K with the 4K Max on the same TV and found the following:

Time to Reboot: 1 min 6.86 sec (4K) vs 40.92 seconds (4K Max)
Time to load Netflix: 24 seconds (4K) vs 3 seconds (4K Max)
Time to load Disney+: 7.29 seconds (4K) vs 5.17 seconds (4K Max)
Time to load Prime Video: 4.89 seconds (4K) vs 3.39 seconds (4K Max)
Time to load Crave: 7.56 seconds (4K) vs 6.92 seconds (4K Max)

Start Netflix Movie: 4.87 seconds (4K) vs 1.57 seconds (4K Max)
Start Disney+ Movie: 5.75 seconds (4K) vs 5.54 seconds (4K Max)
Start Prime Video: 7.41 seconds (4K) vs 2.81 seconds (4K Max)

Note that starting a stream could be impacted by Internet speed, though all were tested with the same movie and internet service.

Generally speaking, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is faster than my original Fire TV Stick 4K. The most noticeable difference was with Netflix. It was slow with my original 4K stick, but significantly faster with the 4K Max.

The addition of the Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ buttons also improves the speed of launching these apps. Without these buttons, you need to press at minimum 3 buttons to scroll to the first favourite app. This makes the 4K Max much faster to navigate with.

General Review of the Fire TV Stick:

I have owned the Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, and now the Fire TV Stick 4K max. All use the same interface but vary in speed and resolution. I also own the Chromecast, and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. The Fire TV Sticks are by far the best streaming devices I've used and have made my other devices obsolete. Some important features:

- All major streaming apps are available such as Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Crave, Apple TV (to stream my iTunes movies), and Youtube (which I can use to stream my google play movies).

- Alexa is built in to voice command what you're looking for (e.g. "Alexa find Avengers Infinity Wars"). This is much better than trying to type what you're looking for. I like that I have to press a button on the remote to activate it as I don't like devices that are always listening. You can also use Alexa for standard functions like getting the weather or checking how long it will take to drive to work.

- Allows for screen mirroring of devices using Miracast. This allows you to mirror Android phones or Windows 10 devices. It does not mirror the iPhone or iPad though, but those devices can be used to control 3rd party apps such as Youtube. I use screen mirroring to mirror my Surface tablet for Zoom meetings so that I can see and hear my meetings on my big screen.

- Can be used to view your Ring cameras/doorbells. The 4K Max also adds the picture-in-picture mode to show your camera while you're watching something.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. It is a worthwhile upgrade over the regular 4K model (especially if you primarily watch Netflix), and is a big upgrade over competitor streaming devices.
