Works perfectly. Ableton recognizes it without a plugin. Would purchase again if I need another.

You have to invert midi "in" with "out" and "out" with "in".

I'm using this cable for my roland pad-8 octapad to my linux computer DAW.

after some tutorials it was basically plug n play, i pointed the midi connectivity in my daw to the usb device which showed up in FL Studio via Wine, and from there I configured it to interface with fpc and was able to drum and record midi inputs with the pads, so far everything is working with no driver headaches or compatibility problems.

this adapter should add linux to its supported platforms.

I tried this interface with a roland guitar synth and a mac M1 mac mini. It was unusable, notes hung and did not turn off. I tested it against an uno interface that did work, and it failed to work. I will have to return it.

Sadly this is not working with my Yamaha P95. Tried with different macOS, USB, USBC, with driver installed. Also tried with a windows.

Ended up returning it (very smooth return) and bought U2MIDI that was plug and play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to make a modern PC play MIDI back through a MIDI sound module!

There are, of course, plenty of people who will need this adapter to connect non-USB MIDI devices to their computer for the purposes of input, but I bought this specifically because I wanted *output*, and it performs the job wonderfully. In my particular case, I wanted some old-school games that were using my PC's built-in MIDI player to instead play through my Roland SC-55 mkII, and I was able to get it up and running in no time flat.

Step 1: Make sure your PC and your MIDI sound module are turned on.

Step 2: Plug the OUT plug on the adapter into the MIDI IN port on the sound module and the IN plug to the MIDI OUT port. This is pretty common practice for MIDI devices, and the bundled instructions also tell you to do this, but this is also where people seem to get turned around the most.

Step 3: Plug the USB end of the adapter in to your computer.

Step 4: Use a freeware program like MidiMapper by CoolSoft to change your default MIDI device to USB Midi Device.

Step 5: That's it! Optionally, if you want the MIDI sounds from the module to play back through your computer's audio and not through dedicated speakers, you can use an aux cable on the module's output jack to plug in to your computer's Line In 3.5mm jack. If your computer only has a headphone jack, it might support switching the headphone jack to a Line In jack, such as via Realtek Audio Console.)

I'm really pleased with how easy to use this was, as well as how nice the device looks (looks aren't important, but they are appreciated). I'll update my review if this changes, but right now, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

You don’t need the massively expensive equivalent from Roland. This one is just as good if not better. And it does work. I suspect those in the comments who say it doesn’t have just connected it incorrectly.
