Before I install it at a difficult to access permanent location, I wanted to do a full test first and make sure everything is up to my expectation. It's no fun climbing up drilling holes and redo everything just to refund.And after a full day of test, I can honestly say this camera exceeds my expectation.Parts: Everything you need for installation is included. They even throw in a USB-C cable for you to charge up the camera before using it the first time (after that the solar panel will take care of the charging). How thoughtful it is! One interesting thing is that comparing to many other user manuals, this one has one of the most easiest to understand language :) Be very careful handling the camera. It is quite some weight but very slippery plastic and round. I suggest wearing disposable rubber glove to have a better grip.Set up: Very easy to set up, took about 5 mins. Follow either the manual or step-by-step on the phone app Cloudplus. Remember to charge it up first (until solid blue light) before setting it up. The app is quite easy and straight forward to use for the most parts. Needed to play with it for a while to figure out a few options though.Picture/video quality: I had another camera with HD grade before, which I was already quite satisfied. So I expected this one calling "2K" grade to be a level up. And it does exactly that. I can tell there are more details by choosing QHD in the app. And the picture/video in general are just sharper. Honestly, these days all cameras (regardless of SD, HD, QHD, or whatever D, whatever K you call it) should have no excuse of not showing good quality during day time. It's a rainy day for my test and you can see the quality is still very good. But what surprises me most is the night time quality from this camera, both the LED (color vision) and the infrared (black and white vision). I included a picture here taken with my phone to show how dark it is for this area. Then a picture with the LED, and another picture with the infrared. The default setting is black and white for general live view but changing to color when it detects and records. Best of both worlds.Functions: It will send an alert to your phone within 2-3 seconds ( I guess it mostly depends on your internet/signal quality) when it detects human movement, and record it for you. And the camera AI seems to be quite accurate (default setting), and you can also choose different sensibility. You also have the option to detect everything that moves (but who wants this?). You can view the recordings anytime. They are stored in the cloud for shorter duration ones, or you can also store them locally in the SDcard for longer duration ones. Just play with it, difficult to explain here. I like the live viewing too and I can take video and picture anytime live. These will be stored in "Album" (uses phone storage). There's one thing I wish to be improved: the zoom function is done by fingers on phone screen, just like when you browse. It would be easier to use if it were a button included together with those tilt/pan buttons.The best part: the price of this camera is not the cheapest. I usually hesitate with anything over $100 on Amazon. I also cross-shopped some time before pulling the trigger. But the reason is simple - besides the very good quality, you DON'T have to drill into your home and route cable. It's not always practical and easy to do so. And for the solar part, I did an extensive testing the whole day, and I estimated the number of detect/record cycles were about the same as a typical family with 2 adults and 2 school age kids daily. It's cloudy most of the time so the solar charging was definitely not at its best, but the battery was just down a few percent at the end of the day. I may come back to update if I find anything good or bad about the solar/battery in long run.Final words: Everything has a cost to pay. And no exception for getting a peace of mind. Just make sure you pay it the right way. And this camera is definitely the right way to me. Happy with my purchase!
