What a relief! Got this to replace my Blue Compass boom arm. The Blue Compass is more expensive and much worse, with a terrible clamp that always shifted in place when moving the mic back and forth. By comparison this boom arm was less expensive and the build quality is much higher - especially the desk clamp which is a huge improvement over the Blue.
The low-profile nature of it also complements my setup well, with the arm able to sneak under my monitor, and it works great with my Shure SM7B which is a fairly heavy mic. Only small knock is I wish the range of motion on the rotating 180 degree mount (part where the mic screws on) was actually 180 degrees in practice. Pushed all the way to one side the mount does not stick straight, and is closer to 165 degrees. Regardless, I found a better way to mount the mic which didn't require that range so it's a moot point.
Can't go wrong with this.
