Setup seemed pretty standard and the device seemed to work fine. I did the initial setup 5 feet from the router though. It offers multiple options whether you want to use it as a booster or an extender. As a booster it does not reach as far as the original router so it's pointless and as a repeater it is hit and miss. Mostly miss! It's only one room over from the router and in order to get it to work good enough for long enough I need to unplug it for a while. Even then it'll show full bars on the laptop but it'll also say no internet

Using this from a month and I'm very happy that I got this. I have my wifi setup in the basement and I always struggled to get good signals on the second floor. Worked good at first! And by that I mean worked good for 12 hours. It’s shuts off every night and has to be unplugged and plugged back in then works again for the day. I only know this because it’s powering the wifi for my cameras around the farm and it tells me when they get disconnected! Also it takes up 2 plugs because it’s so big. I decided to try this out to improve the wifi signal in a couple of rooms in my basement that consistently had low signals and lower speeds. The overwhelming positive reviews lured me into picking this booster over others in the same price range. The product itself is very lightweight and almost flimsy which I didn't like. It was easy enough to install and I had it connected and working within minutes. However, although the wifi signal improved, the speeds were actually slower than what I was getting before. I'm not tech-savvy enough to understand why this is but thought I'd provide my somewhat more negative feedback in case others have similar issues/expectations and may also be disappointed. I ended up going with a mesh system that provided me with exactly what I was looking for.

Edit: The company reached out and offered a full refund. I've added a couple of stars for their kind gesture. It reaffirms their commitment that their products meet their customers' expectations. I have no doubt that this item works well for others but it just didn't work for me under my circumstances and set-up.
