I also wouldn't wholly trust the levels on the tripod to ensure it is straight. But you can download free apps on your phone (which this is made for) to ensure its level.

The second time I went to use this tripod, I realized that the piece that grasps the camera had gotten unscrewed from the tripod and must have fallen off somewhere the first time I used it, so I couldn't use it anymore! I thought I'd try to write to customer service (this was 5 months after I had purchased it) to see if I could buy a replacement piece. The customer service representative only asked for my order number and what model I had bought, and they sent me a new piece for free.
