I have always wanted a fridge with ice and water in the door, and 6 years ago, I replaced all my appliances and bought the Whirlpool.
Over the last year, I ve noticed a real slowness to dispensing water. The tip of the pipe that fills the glass has buildup and I've been very careful to keep it clean.
I suspected the entire water system in the fridge would need replacing. Not a cheap endeavor and beyond the ability of my DIY skills.
A friend asked if I had a filter in the fridge, and to replace it before call my repair guy.
the filter arrived 3 days after ordering it (I m not a Prime member) and looked up a video on how to replace it. Followed the directions and WOW! have I got water flow back!
I have a few "burps" after the replacement, but its all good now.
You can sign up for the automatic replacement every 3 months, but what the filter is designed for and advertised in removing is not an issue for me, but the hard water build up was

This was actually not heard to install at all. We have an older model kitchen-aide side by side. So on the outside bottom left of your fridge, you will see a round nozzle. This is where you have the tube goes. You turn that clockwise and it will just pop that out with a turn. Once slid out, you slide this one in. You will hear a bit of a sound. Almost like a hiss. And your good to go. That easy. My refrigerator filter board located on the inside of the fridge went back up to 100 %. Very happy with purchase.
