Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20 Bronze acoustic guitar strings are made from 80 percent copper, 20 percent zinc wire wrapped around hex-shaped, brass-plated steel core wire. These acoustic guitar strings produce a bright, balanced sound with pleasing overtones. Gauges .011, .015, .022w, .030, .042, .052.

Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings

Made from 80% copper, 20% zinc wire wrapped around hex-shaped brass-plated high-carbon steel core wire. Played by some of the biggest names in music, Ernie Ball 80/20 Bronze acoustic strings provide a crisp, bright sound with pleasing overtones. Available in Extra Light (10-50), Light (11-52), Custom Light (11.5-54), Medium Light (12-54), Custom Medium (12.5-56), Medium (13-56), Rock and Blues (10-52),12-String Light (9-46), 12-string Custom Light (10-48), and 12-String Medium (11-28).

Love this string guage.

I have the .0115 - .054 set of 80/20 installed on an Art and Lutherie Legacy. Its a 000 sized guitar with short scale (24.9"). These have the perfect balance of ease of playability and volume. A little bright at first but they mellow nicely after a few weeks.

I usually play D'Addario .012-.053 in 80/20 but they stay too bright for too long. Why not play phosphor bronze, you ask? I don't like the way they age...they start off a little dead and go downhill from there, lol.

I have used 12 gauge Phosphor Bronze strings nearly all my acoustic playing life. But because of arthritis in my hands I'm finding more comfort by dropping the gauge a little bit.

I also decided to try switching to 80/20 Bronze to "compensate" for the loss of string energy. Well, let me tell ya, what a delightful surprise.

On my favourite acoustic guitar, which has a laminate Maple back and sides with Cedar top, I found not only was the playability improved but the tone as well. More volume and clarity than with my Phospor-Bronze strings.

I'm very happy with the EB Earthwood Light 80/20's, and the price is excellent also. Recommended.
