The most noteworthy features that set it apart from other audio interfaces are the Wave Link app and the capacitive mute button on top. Wave Link is incredibly useful for mixes, and close integrations with stream deck mean controlling it can be simple too. Adding VSTs directly to the audio to do compression, EQ, de-essing, and notably noise suppression is much simpler than with other apps like Voicemeeter, and having the effects apply to the output directly instead of through OBS let's apps like discord hear the same audio. The inbuilt Noise Suppression plugin is surprisingly good, while I would not recommend using it if avoidable as it does definitely affect audio quality, it works well to make noisy backgrounds (such as with an air conditioner or fan on) bearable for people on the receiving end of voip calls.
I've tried a number of other audio interfaces like the Scarlett 2i2, Komplete Audio 2, and Line 6 UX2, and the WaveXLR is simply the best for a desktop mic. The others have its roots in recording instruments in addition to vocals and it shows. Out of those 3 the only one that comes close is the classic Line 6 UX2 which had a great selection of preamps and effects that were built in to the Pod Farm app, but the WaveXLR definitely has a cleaner interface and more features. Capacitive mute is a simple feature but is very convenient once you use it. It avoids having the loud 'pop' that using the phantom power switch as your mute button leads to, and is both quieter and easier to press than a virtual button.
While it does not have the same mixing capabilities out of the box as the GoXLR (which I do not recommend as TC helicon has basically stopped software support for it), nor does it have the number of inputs that more instrument-minded interfaces have, the Wave XLR is designed simply to have one mic hooked up to it with a bunch of features available for that mic, and it does its job very well.
The real reason you’re buying this though, is for the plug in support in the software. And it all works as it should. Setting a noise gate, EQ, and a de-esser was as easy as following a few YouTube tutorials. Everything works exactly as it should.
I also really like the touch sensitive mute/unmute button on the top of the casing, it’s very convenient and you don’t even need to look for it, just run your finger along the top of the interface and you’ll feel the material difference.
Pros:
Size - Barely took up any space on my desk
Dial/Physical Interface - Initially I was hesitant on purchasing due to the "simplicity" of the dial but it was really simple, easy to use and looks slick! Red if input is not detected, white if activated!
Headphone/Stream Output - The software for the WAVE XLR is super great. It's really easy to use and to integrate on OBS/Streamlabs OBS
Price - I think the $200 CAD price range is fair for this interface!
Cons:
Microphone issues - The microphone sounded great initially when I set it up. However, everytime I restarted my computer, my settings would change. This does not happen with my GoXLR mini (which I had opted for instead of the Wave XLR)
Software dying - This is what ultimately caused me to return the device. In the middle of an FPS game, the software just died. I tried restarting but to no avail. Had to fully restart my computer and I essentially had to recalibrate/set up the software to my own personal settings.
Ultimately I returned it and opted for GoXLR mini (which I fully recommend over this device). If the Wave XLR fixes the issues with the software along with adding mic enhancements (such as compression/eq), etc, then I'd reconsider. For now, in my opinion, opt for the GoXLR mini over this!
Overall 3.5/5, since I can't half star, I would lean more towards a 4 (was a 5/5 when it was working properly)!

Perfectly PlayStation 5 compatible. Both in and out.
The mix setting on the dial allows me to adjust what I hear in the headphones. both the game audio and my own zero latency voice monitoring. Or just one of them.
The OTG adaptor I got for my Samsung phone caused a ton of buzzing - but sound did come through. So I'll need to order a different adaptor before I can really comment on Android usability.
I'm confused as to why there's no gain levels shown on the device's LEDs like many other audio interfaces in this price range. Because they have that functionality but they chose to leave it out.
The device only uses those circular LEDs to show gain levels after you've gone into the red and beyond it. Basically it's showing you how much the "clipguard" is working to reduce your volume (some kind of limiter that they added to this). This is great, but it could have easily also shown you how far you are in the green or yellow before reaching the clipping.
And the clip guard does and awesome job by the way. I'm getting perfect useable levels that can be heard and understood (without any editing - which is really important to me) all the way from whispering as quietly as I can - to shouting as loud as I can without hurting my voice - with my mic an inch to the side of my mouth. Honestly incredible. And it works right out of the box, no PC required.
Using this with Behringer BA 85A mics and WBC/Mogami cables.
When I first started testing I noticed a few times when the clip guard was active there was a tiny bit of audible distortion sometimes. but when I set my levels so the clip guard is not used to its maximum then I'm having no noticable issues at all.
Would be nice if it had two mic inputs. I was thinking of getting an XLR splitter cable so I can record two people at once. Though I'd have to adjust the volume using the distance of the mic to the person. Not perfect but might be very usable if the mics are the same. I'll have to order one and try it.
Also honestly I'd prefer separate dials for the different functions. It's kind of a waste of time to click to scroll between the different settings before you can adjust them..
