I'm using these with a Fluance RT81 turntable and a TCL smart tv.

These were part of a replacement for an aging vinyl set up, using a receiver, and conventional speakers.

Connectivity is easy through blue tooth. Seamless, no fuss, no muss. Appearance and build quality are excellent. They have a nice weighty feel to them.

When using the turntable, the sound quality really becomes apparent. These speakers have such impressive punch and clarity! If you close your eyes, you will imagine a much larger speaker. I'm no audiophile/snobby type, but I do know a quality sound when I hear it.

I experimented with the claimed filter circuits to see if I could coax some distortion out. Nothing. It just got louder, both in the bottom, and high ends. These are a really impressive set of speakers.

I read a lot of positive reviews for these. They're all correct. Champagne speakers for a beer budget. Buy with confidence.

These are pretty awesome! I've been looking at Edifier products for a while now. This model was a surprise - addition of Bluetooth 5.0 and sub-out was only in higher models, but now it's in the budget models.

The price was just right during Christmas holidays so I went for it.

I like:
- remote control to turn speakers on / off
- light that shows which line the speaker is on
- super seamless pairing for Bluetooth
- switching between the incoming channels
- great sound for a small room. The bass is not super deep, but enough to get play hip-hop (I might buy the woofer later)
- design is great and materials are premium
- on sale its an amazing deal!

I don't like:
- the speakers have specific side assigned (one is left and one is right). It would be nice if you could reverse the sides so you could place the speakers with the controls closer to you. Reversing the line-in cables works, but for Bluetooth it's still in the wrong order.
- would be nice to have the optical line-in
- these need sturdier / metal grills - my nephews will poke at these speakers within 5 seconds of seeing them. The grills are material based do the fingers will just go through them and will damage the speakers.
- I would reverse the colors on the remote (black text on white background) or make them brighter so you could see the buttons better in the dark
- skinnier connector cable between the two speakers?

I am in the music / radio biz Soni am really fussy when it comes to sound. For the price and size, these speakers couldn't have better sound. Crisp top-end with such clarity, and a warm bass generated by the heavy real wood case. They are simply perfect for listening to music the way it was intended. I have attached a pic so that you can see the size relative to a bottle of wine. The cable between the two speakers is crazy long so you can put them in 2 corners of a room. Bluetooth was a breeze to set up. You can buy a plug-in sub-woofer but honestly the bass is good enough for me as a pop/rock listener. In summary these are exceptional for the price.

This is a good speaker for the money, although there are a few flaws. These are powered speakers and as a result do not require any additional amplification.

Good:
- Mids and highs are generally pretty good for a speaker in this price range
- The wood accent is nice
- Bluetooth works pretty well with my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus) and Neutron Audio (that's the app I am using)
- Speaker is fairly loud for its price at maximum settings

Bad:
- Power cable is too short
- The bass is not very good (sub 75 Hz)
- Cannot easily add subwoofer
- Soundstage could be better

The most notable flaw is the poor bass, and that's mostly because the drivers are simply too small (on the upside, if you live in an apartment, this might be a pro because high base tends to penetrate the walls). Other reviews point out that there are some speakers with even smaller drivers that have better bass, so perhaps there is an issue in that regards with this speaker. Play something with very low frequency instruments and the lack of bass will quickly become apparent.

One annoyance is that the power cable is rather short - this has forced me to get creative in setting up or getting a power cable extension. It's not a huge issue, but for those with rooms that are not easily accessible near a power connector, this might be an issue. I have my speakers plugged into my surge protector, but if I did more room, an extension could might have been required.

I don't think that this can easily be converted to a 2.1 setup. There is an RCA input, aux output, and really that is it for inputs. A subwoofer would have been really helpful because of the poor bass that this pair of speaker has, which is rather unfortunate.

A final issue is the soundstage. This is a highly subjective opinion, but the soundstage from these speakers does not sound very good. It is rather reminiscent of "closed" headphones, as opposed to "open" headphones, which tend to have better soundstage.

Despite these flaws, I still feel that a four star is very well justified. The highs and mids are easily competitive with speakers that are sometimes double the price.

The sound is far from perfect, but you really cannot expect that from a pair of speakers at this price point. I used a Chord Mojo DAC from my computer to play these noises. Keep in mind that "passive" speakers will often have a much better sound quality simply because you can pair them with a very good amplifier, but again, the setup complexity and cost quickly skyrockets, because of the costs of a DAC, amplifier, and then the passive speakers, so we have to always keep in mind that these Edifier speakers are priced very competitively.

You also get a small remote control that has very basic functionality.

---

On the whole, I am reasonably satisfied with this speaker, even with these flaws, because of the price paid. I would recommend it for people who have smaller rooms or university students on a budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great speakers for daily listening!
Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2024
Colour Name: BrownVerified Purchase
I purchased these speakers to use with my desktop computer. I chose the FX-Audio DAC-X6 DAC to process the digital sound from my PC to feed the Edifiers. These components were purchased after a good deal of research and the recommendations in various reviews. There are more expensive options, but I doubt I could tell the difference. I had an existing powered subwoofer, so I just bought a 3.5mm to RCA cable to plug from the Edifiers to the sub. The DAC is connected to the Edifiers with a high-quality RCA cable (although a standard one is included with the Edifiers). I used an optical cable to connect the DAC to the optical port on my computer's motherboard. The remote works well.

No, this combination does not rival the highest quality audiophile systems. But, it is pretty darn good for a fairly inexpensive setup. Granted, I already had the subwoofer, but I think it sounds pretty good without it.

My wife often listens to music and heard this system playing in my den. She immediately came in an asked how to use it. She marveled at how good it sounds. I am pleased with this purchase.

Clear, powerful sound. Well suited to playing just about all kinds of music. More than adequate bass (you'll have to turn it down in most cases). Excellent build quality, the wood finish looks very nice. The cables supplied with the speakers are of adequately good (though not exceptional) quality. Overall, an excellent choice if you're looking for a reasonably compact pair of speakers that sound fabulous, and cost less than Rs 20,000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelentes bocinas, si tienes con el problema con el control lee el último párrafo
Reviewed in Mexico on May 28, 2020
Colour Name: black and walnutVerified Purchase

I was looking for some high quality Bluetooth capable speakers for the living room, without breaking the bank. I wanted something small, but with great sound. Read the reviews on these Edifiers and decided to try them. I figured for only $150 I wouldn't be taking too much risk if they didn't live up to the hype. Well, I'm happy to say they absolutely lived up to all the hype and more. I already expected them to be good based on the reviews, but I was still caught a bit off guard by just how good they really do sound. Quite frankly, I'm not sure how they can pull off this level of quality for the price? These speakers are quite a bit heavier than I expected and also a little bit smaller than I expected (which is nice). The cords that come with them to connect the speakers to each other, etc, are quite thick and high quality. The finish on the speakers is pristine, and they are solid as a rock. They are impressive visually - just beautiful, and sonically superb. Nothing chintzy about these speakers in any way. I'm just some guy who likes music, so I don't really know how to describe the sound from a professional standpoint, other than that they sound really clean and tight. Bass is solid and clean and absolutely not lacking, despite the small speaker size. Mids and Treble also very clean and crisp. I can really hear all the vocals well, and the highs are sharp and crisp without having that too sharp sound that is sometimes almost painful in certain speakers, if you know what I mean. They just sound good - really good. Balance of highs and lows is just really, really nice. I didn't even adjust the Bass or Treble - they sounded fantastic at the neutral adjustment setting. I did try turning up the bass just to see where it would go, and it went from tight and solid to a bit more thumping, if that's what you like. Like I said, I'm no sound pro, but I'm not a stranger to good speakers - I have some nice KEF's for my main stereo with a 240 watt amp, 80 watt separately powered sub, etc, so I feel like I have some experience with good sound. These Edifier's are as good as anything I've heard, really. Obviously, these don't get as loud as my main system, or have quite as much bass, but I don't need them to. I just wanted something nice for my living room when I want to listen to music there, and I have absolutely fallen in love with these Edifier speakers - just wonderful.

Bluetooth connectivity worked great - without a hitch to my Android phone.

So far I've listened to some Van Halen, Queen, Garbage, Tribe Called Quest, Led Zeppelin, Craig Finn, Fatboy Slim, Sunflower Bean, Fountains of Wayne, UB40 (on CD), and Vanity Fair. It all sounded outstanding on the speakers. I'd rate them 10 stars if I could. If you are questioning buying these, do not hesitate, you won't be sorry. I will probably buy another pair for my son who is leaving for college, as well as a pair for my cabin. Again, I really have trouble understanding how they made these so very good for such a reasonable price. But hey, who cares? Buy them and just enjoy the amazing sound, knowing you have money left to spend on music to play on them!
