These are decent speakers but reconnecting back to my PC was a nightmare.
3 Stars
These are decent speakers but reconnecting back to my PC was a nightmare.
These speakers are perfectly fine. For the price and size of the speakers the bass actually punches outside its weight class I'd say. That being said my similarly priced sound bar for my TV feels like it has better audio quality than this. But I wanted this specifically to be able to connect my turntable and my PC at the same time. Granted they're on different inputs.I needed to connect my cellphone to the speakers and couldn't because my PC was connected. I didn't know how to disconnect 'properly' so I just clicked forget device and was able to connect my phone. The problem I ran into was connecting my PC back to the speakers. The manual was useless and upon googling my issue I realized I was not the only one with this problem. I was able to resolve the issue on my own however when I was about to reinstall my audio drivers. I checked the Bluetooth menu in the Device Manager and my Edifier Speakers were still showing up even though I had 'forgot' them. So I disabled them then uninstalled them and was able to reconnect no problem but it took over an hour of troubleshooting. On top of that my speakers were stuttering pretty bad the first couple of days after installing the speakers but it seems to have resolved itself for now(knock on wood). These are okay speakers and for what they cost and how they look and their features... its alright.

I promise to make this review worth your time, and humanized :) This is just my opinion. Skip to the end for conclusion.

-=FYIs=-
-Volume is digital (Plus side is you'll never get that crackling volume issue), while Bass and Treble knobs are analog.
- Amp is located in one speaker and other speaker is powered via speaker wire connected "all the way" back to the amp speaker.

-=Questions people may have=-

Q. How do these sound ?
A. They sound clear, and balanced, The lows and highs can be adjusted as such to your liking. The bass doesn't breakdown and flutter, And the treble adds clarity. It is well matched to the power of the amp. They use a 4" Ported speakers that rounds off the low-end so your sound doesn't sound like "$15 cheap speakers" bass guitar and Bass synth tones are easily heard. Kick drums can be heard with clarity. I believe these to be a good match for the average everyday listener or more..

Q. How loud can these go?
A. Enough to annoy the wife sitting down stairs in her craft room with her door shut while I sit upstairs. Keep in mind that was only the typical mid to high range of frequencies, meaning without the aid of a subwoofer destroying my house. So yeah they can be loud.

Q. What kind of room or listening situation would you recommend these for?
Answers:
- At a computer desk (5 Stars) Sounds really decent, once you adjust the Bass and Treble. great for games, movies, and music. Just about anything really... Sitting 2-6 feet away. But not limited to!

- Bedrooms or TV speaker substitute (5 Stars) no problem, even larger master bedroom sizes. these can fill the room with sound no problem. but remember loud, and keeping up with the BASS demand simultaneously, will be difficult. You can hear the bass but, are limited to that 4" speaker "woofer" sound. You'll need something more suited for those power demands.. Something with bigger speakers, more power, separate subwoofer.. etc

- How about using these in my home theatre ? (0 Stars) No, just don't. Just incase this idea crossed your mind... Once you desire that loud demand for HT sound clarity and quality .. they will cry. (distort or crackle) meant for med to med-high volumes! but not to replace a true HT experience. make sense?

Q. How about Karaoke?
A. For a small venue maybe. Don't replace your PA system. a Mic may stress the speakers... as they are not designed for that. they wont have the protection for the speakers built in.

Q. How about using them for a crowd of people outside? or a wedding?
A. Can they do it?. maybe.. I don't recommend it. again volume to ratio of room size, and power output... close proximity. example: A table setup at a convention to sell products, sure. Dancefloor inside? no. It would sound weak.

Q. Can it support a separate subwoofer?
A. Yes, you can use a subwoofer with the powered speakers, but the subwoofer must also be self-powered. You will need an RCA Y-splitter. From the audio source run one set of the RCA's to the speakers, and the other set of RCA's to the subwoofer. Simple Right ?

Q. Do they need a subwoofer?
A. No. but if you desire room filling/shaking bass, look for something else with a sub, or add a separate self-powered sub.

Q. How about the BT connection, how's that?
A. It was easy to connect these speakers to my phone, or my Google Nest Hub mini device, (which works well btw) The remote has a BT button, press it, and then go to your device (phone or what not) that is looking for the speakers, and it should find them no problem. (fairly standard these days)

Q. What kind of sound/audio experience do you have?
A. It's all relative to be honest. I take my sound assessment serious just like the next person who calls themselves an audiophile. But. As far as how enthusiastic I am about sound. I did build a sound studio for music production separate from my house, I worked for various local home theatre retail businesses, and I've also worked in the home automation/home theatre installation field. I've built custom speaker cabinets to fit clients needs. I own many sets of speakers to help with music production.
Some say more $$ the better.. Yes, and no.. Don't get sucked into speaker specs and wattages, and cabinet sizes. Let your ears decide, not the marketing. Be happy with your purchase rather than the brand name, because if you leave with.. "I hope these are as good as they say they are" 9 out of 10 times you'll be disappointed once you hook them up at home. (But I'm buying online !!) yeah I know experience only goes so far in words... :(

Conclusion.
I'm listening to them now, and I can say these are clear and work well, and provide a well rounded sound in a compact set of speakers, with some bottom end and clear highs. I have zero regrets or issues with these.. Price is right. Looks are decent. Functions are all that I could ask for and more. I would buy these again. Buying speakers online can be hard as you have NO idea what they will sound like... I have used these every day for the last year or so @ low-med to high volumes, and that is why I wrote this review... You're welcome Edifier. (Not a paid review to be clear) I just believe in this product. Hope this helped!

I've owned these for two years now, and I like to wait to review audio equipment. So I am happy to reviewthese!

The cables are a good length and the setup is a breeze. They can hook up with SPDIF, Bluetooh, 3.5mm, meaning you can run headphones and these on the same system at the same time with zero issues! Connectivity is fantastic on this.

The build quality is very solid too and the dust filter/protectors are A tier, and look good. They don't muffle the sound much either so there's that. They look very nice and their size is convenient to fit into almost any settup.

Sound quality is... pretty good. For the price though? VERY good, extremely competitive. You have to EQ them a little in this price bracket, a couple ticks on the bass will improve the "warmth" as people call it. They are a bit high on the highs, but again, you can use the built-in EQ knobs to turn it down. So you can tailor them to what your listening preferences is and get it pretty close to balanced... they aren't audiophile balanced though, and if you want them to be it will take equipment to get them there. But they aren't from off from Harmon curve I think.

Controls, well... the volume has no physical indicator and it is a free spinning volume knob which is ANNOYING. I wish it had pips to say where it is so I could "turn it up to 11" and know its at 11. NEVER USE SYSTEMSOUND, messed up audio quality... which makes the volume indicator annoying. I suppose it wouldn't work because there's the remote, but jeepers, even an LED indicator/bar to show its current volume would be amazing, it would legit make these PERFECT. But otherwise, the controls are easy to access and understand.

For the price, these things CRUSH the competition outside of managing to find vintage-mint condition JBL's etc. But for modern/semi-modern these are amazing and better than some speaker systems twice their price. Which is EXACTLY what they are meant to be!

Bought for gaming and streaming computer.
Nice full sound. Very good balance of bass, mid and highs. Very clear and clean.
It’s loud enough for background or movies and even a house party.
If you turn up the bass too much (0-10) the mid and tweeter almost cut out and the sound quality is unacceptable.
However, the default bass setting delivers an adequate amount of bass. You can adjust it to about 7 if you want a bit extra before losing sound quality.

Bluetooth connects easy to phone or computer.
Keep speakers at least 2 metres apart to get that nice stereo sound.

Overall pretty happy for $160.
They look very nice in the wood grain with grey screen.

I am purchased primarily to use as turntable speakers but they can also connect to my Apple TV by Bluetooth which is perfect for my needs. Sound quality is markedly better than the Bose soundbar they replaced - richer, deeper, fills the room with sound… so far I am impressed, especially since these were about the same price or maybe even slightly less than the Bose soundbar.

(Granted my soundbar was the lower end product line sold at Costco but I didn’t do my research, just assumed Bose was a gold standard! Lesson learned!)

These are amazing speaker, im not a big audio person if it sounds good it's good. But these blew me away, my video does not do justice they are crisp and have a wonderful amount of bass no high chirps or monotone sounds. I played videos and music and tests and all passed by my standards. I'm in love with these and wish I got them sooner. Need speakers and don't wanna spend a lot these are them.

Great sounding Bluetooth powered bookshelf speakers. Very nicely balanced soundstage and with separate bass and treble controls, made this a very easy setup with enough solid bass and an expressive high end. Add to this, a excellent, quiet noise floor Bluetooth connection that is a breeze to setup, and I'm sure you'll like these. Beautifully packaged with RCA to 1)8 inch cables, RCA to RCA cables and a TOS cable, and wait, they even added a length of speaker cable, striped and tinned to connect hem together. Oh, and they look good.

I was able to plug up to the record player, connect my phone and I’ve synced my projector to them for movies. Truly great speakers and the price can’t be beat.
