Just received my echo today, it actually arrived early! Was a breeze to set up with the downloaded alexa app. I recommend watching YouTube videos about the device and what you want to disable...for example you can disable the function of saving alexa interactions or choose a time period of deleting them...doing this is a great privacy feature.

My original choice of echo devices was the echo studio for the sound loudness but I was reluctant to spend $250 before taxes. This echo 4th gen is the next best thing for soundcloudness and quality, especially when you adjust the treble, bass and mid-range to your preference. Excellent bass sound! Totally happy with this item!

I will likely purchase another or save up for a studio to connect with it for a kick a** system!

A gift from my wife but it seems like the whole is in love with it. The Sound output is amazing and we linked our Apple music account to it, plays any song we tell Alexa to play. You can connect your devices via Bluetooth and enjoy as regular speaker as well. It can do a whole more, phone calls, shopping list etc. I want it as a speaker for now.

I like Alexa devices in general ... I have at least 7 in my home ...
This being said ..

# Stereo pairing
I tried pairing this one with my older echo to have stereo when listening to spotify but it was a bit complicated even for an IT guy.
The problem was that 1 echo device was on the 2ghz band and 1 was on the 5ghz band.
So Alexa complained that there were not on the same network but it's the same SSID and I think it should work fine anyway since they share the same network somehow.
The workaround I found was to go in my router settings, use mac filtering to block my new echo device from 5ghz band.

# When using my Samsung phone, Spotify steaming to Alexa does not always work, I press Play and there is no sound. It always works in the end but it's a bit annoying to have to re-try multiple times

# There are a few things Alexa has issues understanding, like some songs she can't find on Spotify for no apparent reason, it would be nice to have an easy way to report these so they can get fixed. I tried playing some playlists on Spotify but Alexa would not recognize them. Also for some reasons sometimes we say "close light XYZ" (in french) and it won't work, sometimes it does. Sometimes we say "turn of light XYZ" instead and this works. It's not consistent.

# When there is a power outage, often some lights can't be found by Alexa but they work in Kasa/Govee/etc. The workaround is to re-plug the plugs and to reset the switches but it's a bit annoying.

# In the Alexa app, often when we add a device in a group, it removes another device from that group

# There were notification sounds that we did not know why we got them and it was a bit annoying. Eventually I realized that it was when there was a "deal" on Amazon. I disabled it using the Alexa App and it seems fine now but I think this should be improved. Indeed, when I asked Alexa what why Alexa made a sound. she was not able to provide an answer. When looking at the history in the Alexa app, there was nothing about that "event". I think it's when I finally asked "do I have notifications?" that I was able to understand what was that sound. I think this should be replaced by Amazon Store alerts instead or on the phone notifications instead. Something you can look at instead of listening to. Visual instead of audio.

# Sound is OK as long as you don't crank it up too much, I might buy the Echo Studio eventually

Update 2023 : the alexa app on android is really due for a refresh, i have maybe 20 alexa supported devices in my house and the app feels quite outdated and slow, managing groups and rooms among other things can be quite painful .. troubleshooting network issues should also be improved

I like the sound quality and design of the speaker. But when I try to play Spotify music 8 of 10 times, I have issues connecting. But it is not the speaker fault, it is Spotify that sometimes it does not recognize the speaker in the network.
