I don't often write reviews, but couldn't wait to write this one, and I've only used it once! I have very thick, very frazzled, very processed and very wavy (thanks, menopause) hair. I've only been growing it long since covid started, and was using a roller brush dryer to dry my hair. When dry, it was semi-straight but very poofy, so I would need to straighten it. This whole process would take about 1 1/2 hours and was a royal pain. This morning, I used my Dyson AirStrait for the first time, and am SO impressed. My hair is soft, shiny and 90% as straight as it would've been using my previous 2-step process, but in less than half the time. And I'm sure it's nowhere near as damaging as taking a hot straightening iron to it. Yes, this is a pricy item, but I'm so thrilled to report that it works exactly as advertised, and even better than I was expecting. Woohoo!! :)

It allows me to save time. However, I do have to finish off using my regular straightener (only for the short hair near my ears and my roots).

This has been a game changer! I love it. I didn’t want to. I really wanted to hate it at this price. But, it’s all it says it is. My hair has never looked better or healthier. Be sure to use a blow dry cream just like you would with blow drying your hair normally. When closed, it works like a hair dryer to dry your roots and almost get it dry. Like 70% focused at the roots. Then run it through, small sections slowly. It comes out dry, straight, smooth, and so shiny! I wish it was less expensive but it’s worth every penny. It’s unique on the market as far as I know, and it replaces a dryer and flat iron. I think $200-$300 would be better but it’s still worth $500. I love it! I have done somewhat curly hair and lots of it if that helps. :)

TL:DR - my wavy/curly hair typically takes 45 min - 1 hour to straighten. I used the air straight and it took 17 and a half minutes to go from wet hair to dry and straight.
It also worked on dry waves/curls to dry straight.
Easy to use. Highly recommend.

I honestly was a little skeptical about this when I first decided to try it. I have wavy/curly hair and it takes FOREVER to straighten it.
Blow drying takes a long time for me, and I honestly lack the brush/hand/eye coordination to do a great job. So basically I have to dry my hair and then go over it with a flat iron.
I have tried multiple tools that are blow dry brushes to try to get my hair from wet to dry/straight and most of them do nothing but create frizz. Even after finding one that semi-worked, I still had to spend time going over my hair with a flat iron to get it straight and not frizzy. This whole process would typically take me a minimum of 45 min, but usually closer to an hour.

I had read reviews about the Dyson air straight greatly reducing that time and it being super easy to use. I decided to try it and assumed that even if it did get my hair close to straight, I would still need to go over it with a flat iron. I was hoping this would just drastically cut down the overall time it took.

The first time I tried it my hair was dry and curly. I had some free time and decided to see how the air straight would do in this capacity. I figured, since it was using air, it wouldn’t be the best at going from dry-curly to dry- straight. I was wrong. Within what seemed to be about 15 minutes my hair was straight!! I even quickly “set” it with the cool air setting. I was honestly astonished at how well this machine worked!!

Then it was time for the real test. Would it be able to take my wet, out the shower hair, and straighten it quickly? I wasn’t sure. I watched the video in the Dyson app when I first opened it (I think it’s about 2 min long, nothing crazy) which explained how to use the tool to dry the roots before you start straightening. I decided to use the stopwatch function on my phone to see how long it actually took me to do my hair. I hit start on the timer and started straightening with the air straight. Most sections of my hair were dry and straight with ONE pass of the machine. This was honestly amazing because using a flat iron typically takes several. Some areas needed two passes, but this was still so much better and quicker than anything else I’ve used. Plus it was my first time doing it so I’m sure there is a learning curve. When my hair looked done I went over it with the cool setting to “set” the style and hit stop on my phone. It took me 17 min and 29 seconds to go from wet waves/curls to dry straight hair.
I am honestly amazed and will never be able to straighten my hair any other way.

I have frizzy wavy/curly hair that is difficult to manage in a time crunch. My normal routine is wash, blow dry (15 mins or more), straighten (20 mins). I've kept my hair short to minimize the effort it takes. Now, with this product, my routine from wet to straight is done in 15 mins total! The effect is a little less sleek compared to a flat iron, but for most days, this is just what I need.

Pros: Super fast, gets my hair 90% straight quickly, minimizes heat damage, all-in-one tool
Cons: Heavy, not the most portable for travel, does not give exactly the sleek look a flat iron would

I will probably still use a flat iron for when I really need it to be "perfect" for an event, but for everyday life, this is a gamechanger. I've recommended this to family members with hair similar to mine.
