I’ve been using the new Aosu doorbell for two weeks now, and so far, it works smoothly and battery's still hanging at a solid 100% (we have an average of 5-10 activities detected each day, and the current weather in my area is around 5°C). The installation and setting process are straightforward, allowing you to adjust the detectable zone to avoid any unwanted alerts. Both the image quality and night vision are good, and the motion detection is sensitive enough to pick up all visitors. You might want to test the camera before screwing it down, as at certain angles, the sunlight might be very bright, making human faces shadowy.
The home base comes with an 8GB SD card, so you got local storage and loop recording without a subscription fee, but you would need to subscribe to get cloud storage and facial recognition. The app is well designed and it’s easy to review video clips in the app and save them on your phone when needed. With the price, the quality, and the amazing customer service, I’m very happy with this purchase.
Checked in with aosu support who were quick to reply to my issue and I'm adjusting the review rating from 1 star to 5 stars purely on the kind customer service I received alone. Aosu rep Ru reached out to the email I used to register my device and provided additional support that went above and beyond to correct the existing problem and something extra in case something happens again in the near future, which I very much appreciated.
Ru was truly considerate of my situation and definitely proved aosu and aosu support team care about their customers and home safety.
aosu will be pushing out updates to address the battery & detection issues so I will continue testing the newer unit I received. Regardless, I think I'm good with it. I don't think you can really compare the support you get from aosu with nest and rings cameras.
Give aosu a shot.
If it doesn't work out the first time let them know and trust that the support team will fix it appropriately and swiftly like mine was.
---ORIGINAL REVIEW 1/5---
Possibly YMMV review since I think I may have received a defective unit. Can't be this bad.
Been using this for 2 months and my biggest gripe is with the battery life.
Potential Deal Breakers
1) Battery Life (180 months on a single charge on 20 events/day 10 secs recording)
Not even close :(
First full charge straight out of the box - lasted 10 days with minimal event triggers
Second charge - 2 weeks, 10 events/day 15 secs recording
Third charges - 3.5 weeks (15% left) 14 events/day 15 secs recording
That's three full charges each not even lasting a month with fewer event triggers.
Weather (i.e.: extreme winter) has not been a relevant factor.
I have no idea how it's projected 6 months on one charge. Perhaps I received a faulty product, will reach out to seller after this review.
2) Camera range/detection zone
- Limited to ~1.5-2 meters tops in front of unobstructed camera
- I have porch steps 1.75 meters from my doorbell and the camera will not register an event unless someone has gone up the 3 steps onto the front porch
- Sucks when lazy delivery people just toss my packages towards my porch from the driveway and can still take a pic of the package being delivered for their purposes but from my end being unable to log on video when it was delivered and by who
3) Activation & Recording lag
- recording and notification has a noticeable lag, often times by the time I get pinged the person has already turned around and left
- saving and reviewing videos is also cumbersome, can do it when testing the features yourself but the one time I've had to do this for real it completely failed, couldn't accomplish either task and was fortunate it wasn't a situation where video evidence was critical
Pros
1) No subscription fee
2) Unit ($99) is affordably priced
3) 24/7 monitoring is possible...though with this battery life you might be charging every night
4) easy to install for sure
Hoping I just received a defect and customer service will do something about it. At 2 months use and 4 full charges, this unit is what it is. Will update review accordingly, if warranted.

I was initially on the hunt for a higher resolution camera, and the Aosu Doorbell Camera did not disappoint. The clarity and detail it provides are fantastic.
Another highlight of my experience with Aosu has been their tech support. They are responsive, genuinely interested in helping, and seem committed to continuously improving their product. This level of customer service is rare and greatly appreciated.
Based on my positive experience with the doorbell camera, I also decided to purchase Aosu's outdoor wireless cameras. They have been equally impressive in terms of quality and ease of use. Overall, I highly recommend Aosu for anyone looking for reliable, high-resolution security cameras without the burden of ongoing subscription fees.
Motion detection is good. It picks up people as they approach the door and continues to record them until they leave. Watching stored video is easy. I’ve had no false recording to date.
Battery life so far is great. I’ve had it for 4 days and it’s still at 100%. This is with like 8 events a day. Should easily last months.
After initially setting up the device I had some technical questions. I called and spoke with their tech support, who were awesome. They answered my questions, had me upload video to them while I was online and escalated my concerns. The escalation team responded within 10 hours. I compare this to another vendor where I waited 12 days and still haven’t received a response. Aosu’s tech support is top notch!
The only thing I wish their app would do is allow you to set a timer for how long video would record after seeing motion. I understand why they don’t offer it as it would drain battery life, but in my case I’d like the option.
There are some false alerts (usually large delivery trucks passing by), but that’s inevitable when you’re translating a 2d detection area over an image of a 3d world. Setting the motion detection to “human only” cuts down on false alerts significantly. The important thing for us is that it hasn’t missed a legitimate event yet. The other brand sent almost no false alerts but it also didn’t record unless someone was actually within arms reach of the bell even though the detection area was set for the whole driveway. So someone could tamper with my car in the driveway or steal it outright and I’d have no video of it. I’d rather get an alert when someone is walking up to the door or when someone enters the driveway, which is exactly what we get with the aosu doorbell. So for me, the few false alerts are not a big deal as long as it’s capturing the important things as well.
Pros:
-Doesn’t miss events.
-Records the entire event from start to finish (broken up into clips).
-Chime is volume adjustable. The highest setting is loud enough to be heard from a different floor.
-Modern, sleek design.
-Battery life seems fine so far but I haven’t had it long. Will update if this changes.
-Speaking of the battery, I like that the charging port is on the bottom of the unit. So if you have a long enough cord that you can run to an outlet, you really don't even need to take it down from the mount to charge it.
-Crystal clear picture.
-Voice changer feature is an incredible safety feature for women. The clown setting is cute and funny for joking around with family, but the uncle setting really does make a woman’s voice sound manly and may help with scaring off any creeps looking for an easy target.
-Set up could not have been easier.
-Simple, intuitive app.
-Able to use up to a 128g sd card, which is a lot. So far we've used about 0.5g in a week, and that's with testing it out and recording way more than it would during normal use. So the 8g card that comes included should be able to hold about 4 months of video clips with heavy usage.
Cons:
-No ability to increase clip recording length. It only records up to a minute, then it will record another clip (with a couple of seconds in between) if the activity continues. I would prefer to record a longer clip.
-When saving a video, it additionally shaves off 2-3 seconds from each clip. So that combined with the fact that it only records up to a minute means you end up losing several seconds between each clip.
-When talking through the speaker, it only records the voice of the person at the door but it cuts your voice out.
-I would like to be able to see the actual battery percentage in the app, rather than just a battery icon.
-The IR night vision mode flicks on and off every few seconds if there’s street lights. I just turned it off altogether since we always have our porch lights on so it still gives a clear picture at night, but this issue needs to be fixed for people who don’t keep their lights on.
-The tamper proof alarm is a good idea (and it’s LOUD), but it would be great to be able to manually trigger the alarm as well for scaring off lurkers and thieves.
-This is very minor but I would also like to be able to re-order the list of cameras, since we have two (one for the front door and one for the back door).
All of the cons should be able to be fixed through app and firmware updates, and if they are, then this would hands down be one of the very best video doorbells on the market, so I do hope that those things will be addressed. It seems the company updates the app every 2 weeks to 1 month, which is good because it shows the company is committed to improving based on feedback. So far, we’re very happy with these video doorbells and look forward to even more improvements in the future.
