I am primarily an acoustic player, but I wanted to get into some electric.I didn’t want to spend too much money on electric guitar seeing is how it’s not my main instrument. So I started looking at Budget guitars, and this Donner jazz tele style caught my eye.I watched a bunch of YouTube reviews on this guitar, and almost all of them had the same consensus, saying “how is this a $200 guitar? “. After a few weeks of deciding whether I want to get it, I decided to bite the bullet. The guitar was delivered within two days of ordering (was glad to see that it was shipping from Alberta Canada). The box came in good condition taking out of the packaging was in really good condition. I did however notice a blemish around the F hole (see photo). That does not affect the guitar at all. Other than that, the quality and craftsmanship seems to be pretty good.I did go ahead and change the stock string with a new set as recommended by the YouTube reviews. I’ve come to the conclusion I do not like those tuners. When tuning the guitar, they do not turn smoothly. They are pretty rough feeling. Those are probably the first things I’m going to change on the guitar.A couple things surprised me right out of the box. The intonation five the strings were great. The only one I had to adjust, was the D string. The five other strings were pretty spot on. And the weight of it feels good. It doesn’t feel like a toy.Plug the Dan straight into my amp and happy to say there was no buzzing at all and I was using the supplied patch cable. When playing the frets could probably Use some polishing when bending the strings, you feel a grittiness this to them. Also, happy to say there weren’t really any buzzing frets that I could tell. I really love these hamburger pickups they have a nice warm tone to them but when you really want to kick it up, putting it to the bridge, pick up with the tone knob all the way up and get some pretty good clear clean tones from it.Overall, I am really happy with this guitar and being a lower price guitar gives me the confidence to try and work and modify the guitar on my own in the future.I definitely would not hesitate to buy another Donner guitar in their mid to higher end lineup. If you were considering this don’t hesitate it’s a pretty good deal!

I had to give my opinion, because I was so impressed with the product, especially for the price. After buying the white solid body I thought I'd get the thin line semi hollow body as well. They are both so beautiful looking! The white one has a stunning contrast with the soft white body and pick guard against the ebony fret board and black single coil pick up in the chrome tremol hard ware. Along with the chrome lip stick neck pick. Classic retro styling! The neck has a satin finish which lends for ease of sliding your hand up and down. The neck came perfectly set up but required fret end filling and the action needed to be brought down. On the semi hollow body, the neck is a beautifully selected peice of spelted maple finished in a high gloss. Even the fret board was slightly spelted and gloss finish. But this necks fret work was nearly flawless, no sharp fret ends. Tuners were fine, especially for the price of the guitar. The semi hollow body came with retro style that werent consistant in feel. There is a small hole in the back that you can drop in some fret board conditioner or sewing mechine oil to cure that issue up. The solid body guitar came with the same tuners that my squire guitars have on them, minus the squire insignia. For a beginner, it so fun to play and looks so nice. I think the neck is the best part of the guitar but everything about it looks so good. The volume, tone and switch, feel and modulate nicely. Out of the box, I just had to tune it up to play. I dont even feel the need to swap out the strings. They sound good enough, I might just use them up. Had I bought this guitar first, I think, I would have been disappointed with my other purchases. For the price, zero complaints. I would have given 5 stars on all the categories, but to be realistic, the tuners wouldnt warrant it. But they are just fine and dont require replacing unless when you shred hard in a gig and cant take a chance on yanking it out of tune. Even then, why bother? It is what it is and it's not broke so why fix it. For the price I'd give it a 6 out of 5. Donner has got it figured out, 2 different telecasters which are perfectly uniquely finished and equipped. It's like they love guitars. I M O P, if the brand name sounded cooler, like shecter or something, they could easily charge twice the price and still leave the customers quite satisfied. All that and they both came with a decent gig bag patch cord and strap. Oh I almost forgot to mention, the strap mounts are large and nicely secure the strap on, unlike what my squire guitars came with.

The tremel adjusters are cheap, but fully adjustable for string placement directly over the pick up points. They have been the cause of a string break when I accidentally over tightened the wrong string while tuning. So be sure not to do that. If this becomes a problem, I know you can get replacements for like 12 bucks Canadian, that have a better slope, so your strings dont have to bend down so sharply.
But seriously, for the price...?!?!

This Donner guitar I've been watching for months. An interesting take on a classic Fender design then the price dropped a substantial percentage and I pulled the trigger on it. It arrived in 4 days and with no damage thanks to the guitar being double boxed. Build quality and finish is excellent and being a thinline the resonance was amazing. The quality of the hardware components was lacking so I pirated a Tele Partscaster and transplanted the tuners, which were ok with Fender locking tuners. Followed up with a synthetic bone nut and a brass barrel bridge then after a setup this Donner Telecaster plays smooth as glass. The neck is comfortable and the weight is low for a Tele. The pickups are very nice and will keep them but I intend to swap out the pots and selector switch with all Fender components. I'm very happy with the Donner Tele Thinline an excellent value and loads of potential for those in the know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good guitar for the price.

First off, let me say that my expectations for this guitar were low; especially given its very low price. I’m pleased to say that I was very happily surprised with my purchase.

I bought this guitar for my daughter to learn on. I have several (and have owned many more) somewhat expensive electric guitars myself and have been an avid player for over 30 years. For my daughter, however, I wasn’t looking to make a huge investment… so I took a chance on this Donner.

Right out of the box, I was impressed. The finish and build quality appeared to be on par with name-brand instruments at twice the price, if not more. I was especially blown away by the feel of the neck; usually the first place a player can detect a “cheap” guitar. The rough fret ends I was expecting (and fair enough at the price point) were totally absent; not a single one scraped my left hand. Given the fact that I’ve encountered sharp frets on guitars literally ten times the price of this Donner, this was indeed a shocker.

The package also includes a rather nice padded gig bag, which feels more than sufficient to protect the guitar. There’s also a strap, a decent-quality cable and a few picks included. Everything (except an amplifier) that an aspiring player needs.

Now this guitar is not perfect. The tops of the frets are rough and make scratchy noises when you bend the strings. This is easily rectified with some fine-grit sandpaper and some elbow grease, but it will be necessary for the guitar to play its best. The action is also somewhat high (although certainly not unplayable) and the bridge saddles need to be properly adjusted to match the radius of the fingerboard. This is all part and parcel of a professional “setup” job, which this guitar needs. In all fairness, however, most sub- $500 guitars need such a setup right out of the box.

The tones are quite acceptable, with the neck pickup giving a characteristic “jazzy” tone and the bridge pickup giving a very bright “spanky” tone. The middle witch position (both pickups active) also offers a very usable tone that highlights the positive attributes of each. Nice.

Honestly, even after spending the cash needed to have this guitar professionally setup, I still feel that this is a great value. It looks and sounds very good, and after some adjustment, feels very good too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Preis-Leistung hervorragend, Telecaster für kleines Geld
