So awesome beginner kit

So awesome beginner kit
So awesome beginner kit. Everything is great into this package. But I changed the strings for D'Addario 10-46, because the stock strings are too stiff for my taste. Also the guitar have a better sound with D'Addario strings. The guitar have an awesome sound and the guitar itself is high quality for the price. Also the paint job is so nice and so beautiful. The amp is tiny but it do the job to begin our beginner journey and it sound good. The overdrive in it sound good too. Also it come with a usb cable to recharge it and jack cable to play play-along tracks with our smartphone. But I will upgrade it for a Fender Frontman 10G for to have a better sound. The strap is pretty good. Enough tough for to be durable and enough soft for to be comfortable. I don't feel the need to change it for an all leather one. Also it have leather ends. The tuner is tiny but it do the job pretty well. The guitar picks come into 4 different thickness and seem pretty good. The guitar to amp cable have a good length and seem high quality. Thank you Donner for this so awesome beginner kit.

This guitar is pretty great, this was my first electric guitar so I didn't know what to expect. But the guitar felt amazing, the frets felt smooth, the pickups sounded nice, and the guitar itself felt great. The only trouble I had with it was the weight of it, this Is just me personally, but I sprained a muscle after a pretty long use with the strap. Still, I would rate this product very well and I would definitely recommend it to a beginner

Very brief background. I've been playing for about 15 years, do my own setups and love good cheap guitars. I own 7 guitars and 4 of them are from Amazon.
First the accessories. I have no use for any of these but they are impressive. The gig bag is better than most of the cheap ones you'll find on here. The amp is rechargable which is a bonus and is what you would expect for something that small. It will give you decent sound. The strap, instrument cable, capo, tuner and picks are decent.
Now the guitar. I can only tell you about the one I received. The strings are absolute garbage and I had major rattle on the low e string that I couldn't solve by raising the action on the string and adjusting the relief. I ended up by replacing the low e string with a D'addario 46 which solved the problem then replaced the remaining strings. D'addario 10-46 strings are my favorite. Huge difference in feel from the stock "strings" that come with the guitar. After that everything needed adjusted...action, relief and intonation. The screws to adjust saddle height are far too long and stick out from the top of the saddles so I may cut them down. I also had to tighten the screws on the tuners which seem to be just fine. I have no need to change them out.
The neck on this guitar is really nice and comfortable, no sharp fret ends and the frets all seem to be level. The pickups sound really nice, the electronics work and the fit and finish are pretty darn good. It's solid but not overly heavy and is a nice looking guitar.
I would not hesitate to gig with this guitar. The guitar you get may not need the strings changed out immediately and all the adjustments that entails but it's definitely worth it to do so and if you don't know how to do it yourself it's worth the extra 60 bucks give or take for a pro to do it. Once set up this guitar punches well above the price which is amazing considering all the additional stuff that comes with it.

This guitar came to me on time and was well packaged, there was no damage to it. As was stated, it's fit and finish are great and the guitar was well setup except the intonation could have been done better (which I will do myself. I am not a big fan of single coil pickups but I love the humbucker sound it kicks out! Having said that, I don't have a lot of use for the coil splitting feature. I would have liked two humbuckers on this guitar but, it is what it is! It is a beautiful guitar and I will be using it on live gigs!!!

On the first one I ordered some of the frets were higher than others so you couldn’t play certain notes, but the customer service took care of it right away and they replaced it and this one is perfect. Amazing guitar for the price. The amp is not the best but it’s good for practicing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unleashing Musical Magic: My Beginning Journey with the Donner DST-152 Electric Guitar
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2023
Colour Name: Polar WhiteVerified Purchase
I am absolutely thrilled with my Donner Electric Guitar, model DST-152! As a beginner guitar player, I couldn't have asked for a better instrument to kick-start my musical journey. The sleek and stylish design initially caught my eye, and upon playing it, I was blown away by its impressive sound quality. The rich, resonant tones it produces are a delight to the ears and have motivated me to practice for hours on end. The smooth fret board and comfortable neck make it easy for me to navigate through chords and scales, enhancing my learning experience.

Whether I'm strumming along to my favorite songs or experimenting with new techniques, the DST-152's versatility has exceeded my expectations. It's truly a fantastic guitar that has quickly become an integral part of my musical expression.

In addition to the guitar itself, I also invested in a collection of 13 Donner pedals to create a dynamic pedal board setup for my gigs. This combination has taken my performances to the next level, allowing me to explore an array of captivating sounds and effects.

Each Donner pedal enhances the character of my playing, from the subtle nuances to the bold crescendos. I'm able to effortlessly switch between different tones, giving my performances a professional edge that leaves a lasting impression on the audience. With the Donner Electric Guitar and my diverse pedal board, I'm not only equipped for success as a beginner, but I'm also confidently stepping into the world of live music with a setup that's as unique and innovative as my musical aspirations.

The only CON is the machine heads or tuner clicks when I am tuning my strings. The strings stay in tune but the machine heads appear to have an internal issue which I cannot fix.

Suggested upgrades:

*Upgraded Tuning Machines:
Consider brands like Schaller, Hipshot, or Grover for high-quality locking tuners.

*Pickup Upgrades:
Brands like Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, and EMG offer a wide range of pickups to suit different playing styles.

*Custom Pickguard and Hardware:
Brands like Pickguardian, WD Custom Pickguards, and Warmoth offer custom pickguard options.
For hardware, options from Allparts, Gotoh, and Fender can be considered.

*Nut Replacement:
TUSQ and Graphtech are reputable brands for replacement nuts.

*Effects Loop and Pedalboard Expansion:
Brands like Boss, TC Electronic, Donner and Strymon provide high-quality effects pedals for an expanded pedalboard setup.

Remember to research and choose the options that best match your preferences and playing style. These suggestions can help you further enhance your Donner Electric Guitar's performance and make it even more tailored to your needs. Some of these upgrades can be done yourself if you are confident in doing that otherwise seek out a professional guitar technician (luthier) for the setup. Or you can watch a bunch of YouTube videos.

Otherwise for the money spent this is a great price point for a beginner guitarist.

Thank you Donner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb guitar - not just for beginners.

You will be hard-pressed to find any professional reviews of this guitar that don't rate it as excellent. Check a few out on Y-tube. The 152 is sort of mid range. The 100 doesn't have the split coil switch or the vintage-style tuners. The 400 has slightly better appointments and fittings - but not by much, and it doesn't come with all the extras which (to be honest, aren't really needed for the 152). The 400 comes fitted with D'Addario strings whereas the 100 and 152 don't.

My attached photos illustrate and explain my opinions quite clearly.

The First thing I did was to fit my preferred make of strings. The ones that came fitted were generic but were quite reasonable. Purely as a matter of personal preference, I fitted locking tuners. The tuners that came pre-fitted were perfectly adequate but I just prefer locking tuners for ease of use when restringing.

Of the 'extras' that come with the guitar, the cable is good quality. I can't comment on the amp as I donated that because I already have an earlier version of the same Donner amp which has proved to be excellent for practice. Whether or not the newer versions are as good, I can't say. The tuner is OK, but could be better.

The nut was perfectly cut for the strings that were fitted (I'm guessing they were 9's or maybe 10's). I had to slightly adjust the slots to accommodate the 12's that I fitted - but very little work was needed.

The tone controls work well. The pickups are strong without being too punchy. The coil-split for the humbucker works very well. The drop in output is what you'd expect when switching to single coil.

Overall, the guitar is superb. It weighed-in at about the same as a standard Strat (a tad under 7.5 lbs) and is very comfortable to play.

This is definitely not just for beginners - but if a beginner boght this guitar, they'd have themselves an instrument that they wouldn't need to change for years, and it would be ideal as a standby in case of any onstage or gig emergency.

Were I to suggest an improvement, it's that Donner should also sell the 152 as-is, with a better gigbag and without the extras.
