I have a 2005 car with an old Dension iPod car kit with 30 pin dock. I was hoping to be able to continue using the Dension via Bluetooth, since I have long left the Apple ecosystem. I had tried some other similar bluetooth devices, but the experience was clunky, because of the lack of auto-on/auto re-pairing.

It does work with my Dension kit, BUT, there was a catch. The auto-on did not work with it. It's seems like my car stereo is still providing a little bit of current to it when the car is off (so the DockLinq doesn't fully turn off), but I can't blame the Docklinq for that.

My workaround: I already had a 30 pin to 1/8" male input adapter, so all I did was wire the Docklinq to a 30 pin charging cable and run the 1/8" plug into the Docklinq. Because my lighter ports don't provide any electricity when the car is not running, the auto on works perfectly (thank goodness for the female 1/8" port on this unit).

The Good Parts

* The sound quality is pretty good (at least as good as the FM radio), although it will help if you use a player with an equalizer (I use PowerAmp on Android, which is great). On my car stereo, the music comes out too bassy without equalization but I don't know if it's my phone, the bluetooth receiver or my head unit causing that.
* The auto-on works great with my Android smartphone. It pairs instantly with my phone once the I start the car, and it disconnects when the car isn't running.
* The build quality is quite solid.
* Works great as a standalone receiver if you just power it with a 30-pin charging cable.
* 1/8" port makes it "future proof" in that if your 30 pin dock/speaker device dies, you can still use it with other devices
* If you're not an audiophile (I am NOT), it's cheaper than buying a new head unit
* Does NOT have a built-in Microphone - this is great if your phone does not support bluetooth profiles that can prevent a bluetooth device from being used for calls. I have a separate bluetooth speakerphone for calls, so by using profiles (which my phone supports), my two devices can coexist - one for calls, one for media playback.

Could Be Better

* I thought it was a little expensive
* -1 star for lack of AptX - I really felt it should be standard at the price this device sells for.

I recently purchased a 30-pin Bluetooth adapter hoping to breathe new life into my old speaker system. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here are the main issues I've encountered:

Design and Build Quality:
The first noticeable issue is the loose fit of the 30-pin connector. It doesn't securely attach to the port, causing constant connectivity problems. Any slight movement can dislodge the adapter, making it highly impractical for use in a home environment where it's almost impossible to keep the adapter perfectly still.

Connectivity Issues:
The primary function of this adapter is to provide a stable Bluetooth connection, but it fails miserably.
