Bottom line:
The Fotomoon digital picture frame offers excellent functionality and ease of use at an affordable price. The Frameo app allows for easy photo uploads directly from a smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world. The frame has a built-in motion sensor, and supports both images and short videos, with multiple transition effects and music playback. The 10.1-inch touch screen is responsive and offers easy accessibility. The frame provides unlimited free cloud storage, 32GB of built-in storage, and supports up to 128GB Micro SD cards. Excellent and highly recommended gadget! Solid 5 stars from me.

When the frame first turns on it sits at a screen that looks like a warning that you did something wrong. That make me worried at first as it takes a while before it changes to something that looks like a setup screen. It is just a bootup splash screen telling you to not turn off the power to the frame while it is booting up. So don't worry if it feels like it is taking forever to load up at first.
Once you have some initial settings entered and it is connected to your wifi, it will perform an update if needed and then reboot showing that same warning screen. Yes it is a bit annoying but then you will be all set to continue any setup.
To load any pictures you can insert a micro-SD card. It can support 1GB (yes I tested to see) up to 128GB cards. You can import from the SD card or from a USB connected device. The frame has 32GB of memory but uses about 4GB of it for it's software systems leaving you with 28GB of usable space.
Playback can be from internal memory or from external source (micro SD card or USB). I tried the playback from internal memory and the removable micro SD card. For regular pictures I did not see any real difference between the two options. For video, it could be a little slower from an external source if a larger/longer video.
Playback only offers 3 ways: by date received, date on the file, or shuffle. I found the best one was to shuffle as the date could be changed it you had uploaded to some cloud solutions so would not be good to try to do chronologically by date in so many cases.
Video plays well and can have sound. You can also mute the sound per picture as it remembers your selection via the touch screen or in the settings. The sound can be turned on if turned off by default in the settings. If the frame rate is higher than what the frame supports, it will warn you during import. I found that the videos played good when I bypassed that warning (videos from android based phone cameras).
You can finger swipe forward or backwards on the frames screen to advance to a photo/video or to go back and see one that you wanted to view again. It was a little slower on some photos and would pixelate in some cases but only during certain swipe rates and if there was a video in the mix. But I did not notice such an issue during normal photo/video rotations.
You can choose to show comments and/or date taken or who submitted the photo/video as well as the current time and temperature outside (temp set for your city/area in the settings and if on an active wifi), or turn each item off individually in the settings.
You can have the frame turn on from dusk to dawn (when it senses light and when the lights go out), or by motion, or on timers. So it is pretty flexible. If the frame is up higher, the light sensor is a good option. If in a heavy traffic area, motion sensor works well. There are plenty of options for operating conditions, so most people will be pleased to find a good setting for their preferences.
App Notes: I could only get 10 items to load to the frame without a subscription. Also videos would not load up in the freebie case. But the biggest headache of all was that every time I went back and forth between seeing photos and another screen in teh app is that the photos had to be reprocessed every time which is so time consuming and takes several minutes if you have thousands of images on your phone. That alone would stop me from using the app even if it were totally free. So not a fan of the app side of things and we totally skipped it for many reasons.
Love the frame. Love the manual interface. Love the features as a whole. Hate the app. But still highly recommend!
