Install went smoothly and the drive performs great.
Use macrium reflect to create an image of your existing ssd using a drive enclosure, then image this new drive, then install to steam deck.

Corsair has always been known to be a good brand, so it was easy to choose this when I waited for a sale. This is the size you need for upgrading your Steam Deck.
Installing it is fairly easy if you can follow directions correctly. Valve put a video out to follow along with upgrading parts, and I strongly suggest following it as you do this.

It's been sitting in my Steam Deck for a couple weeks now, and both the Game Mode and Desktop Mode run great and have no issues keeping up with updates with the excess space now, as I used to have a 64GB model and ran out of space fast.
