I have used Conair in the past (1/4” curling iron for my girls), so I decided to buy this one to do loose waves. Works well. Takes a few minutes to heat up, but does what needs to be done: I have thick long hair and was able to do my hair in 20 minutes (standard for me). Gives off good heat. We haven’t had any issues with our previous conair curling iron, which is about 6-7 years old now, so I’m confident this one will hold up well. For $20, I can’t complain.

Okay for the price, this curling iron is awesome. It has adjustable heat settings, and heats up quick. The size of the barrel is perfect. If you’re like me and have been using a curling wand since 9th grade however, it’s a bit of a learning curve using an iron with a clamp. But once you get the hang of it and get used to it, it’s a great hot tool. Great price point and quality.

For the price its a good iron but if you have lower than shoulder length hair you will need to have enough experience in working with short barrel iron to achieve a nice wave. At 1.5" thick it's going to be a larger curl which settles into a loose wave. Like other reviewers, the heat setting dial is raised and do get in the way when manipulating the iron, I had to change back the heat setting several times. I am experienced with higher end hair tools hence I know how to use them. I already have 1.25 long barrel Hot tools gold series that I love but they don't make them in 1.5 which I wanted. I bought this one but the dial setting is a deal breaker for me. I can overlook the short cord and barrel but not have to rest my heat setting constantly.

I would imagine on shorter hair (my hair measures from nap of the neck to end of length 11" long) it would be easier to not rub over the heat setting dial as there would be less mouvement to unroll the barrel. Even if it is cheap and it heats very well, I am returning it as I can't waste so much time on the dial re setting.

It works really well. The curls come out good. The handle can make your hand cramp though and the tip at the end gets super hot so you don’t always have a place to hold/adjust.

The stand that the iron sits on gets super hot ! The tip also is small and sometimes burns my fingers. Tip should be a slight bit longer. Other than that iron heats really hot & shuts off automatically which is the feature I needed! The red indicator light is extremely faint I wish it was a brighter red.
