After reading the product reviews by others here, I decided to buy 2 packs, so I could use 2 cords to get the doubled effect, as I worried that one cord folded in half (how it's supposed to be) would be too short (as per the reviews). In the image attached I have restrung only the seat (longer) portion of the chair. Unfortunately when you use 2 cords, there is too much slack. I was able to restring both sides of the seat but I had to ease in the slack throughout and then when you use the chair, you sink too low and wind up on the support bar. I decided to restring using one cord folded in half, as the original cords were. Starting right from the base hook as the original cord was, there is not enough slack to get to the end. Deciding to sacrifice my heels in favor of seat support, I started 2 hooks up from the bottom (as seen in the image) and followed the cord wrapping of the original chair. With a LOT of tugging and continuous re-easing of slack, I managed to make it to the end. I wasn't able to wrap the end twice as per the original chair and instructions, but only managed to insert in the final hole and let the aiglet open. It is holding, and now I have extra cords in case these tear in the future, so, assuming you skip the bottom two holes like I did, yes you CAN double-string a single chair with just one pack of cords. Just be warned that it is incredibly painful on the fingers and you need to constantly stop and go back to the beginning and tug and ease up more slack to be able to continue, as it will often look like you won't be able to make it.
