Product description
The Focus Motor for SCT & EdgeHD provides electronic focusing for Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (SCT) and EdgeHD telescope optical tubes With the focus motor installed you can bring celestial objects into sharp precise focus using your telescope’s hand controller or a computer instead of using the focuser knob A focus motor is great for visual observers who want to dial in exact focus (especially those with dexterity issues) and a must-have accessory for astroimagers With a motorized focuser installed an astroimager no longer needs to be physically near the telescope to focus an image Combined with computerized control of the mount and camera the focus motor enables the imager to gather data remotely from a backyard observatory or even a telescope located hundreds of miles away As an added bonus port covers protect the ports while not in use and the covers cannot be lost due to the tethered design The focus motor is compatible with all SCTs from 6” to 14” in aperture that have been produced since the year 2006 It is not compatible with 5” SCTs or older models It is compatible with the 8” Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) the 36cm RASA the 7” Maksutov-Cassegrain and all the EdgeHD optical tubes It can also be used with the 11” RASA but requires the Focuser Retrofit Kit for RASA 11 For 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes only the Off-Axis Guider (#93648) cannot be used when the focus motor is installed due to mechanical interferences There are three options for powering your Celestron Focus Motor 1 When using a Celestron computerized mount you can power and control the focus motor through the mount using the supplied AUX cable This allows control from the mount’s hand controller (NexStar+ or StarSense) or a computer 2 If you are not using a Celestron mount you can power and control the focus motor from a computer USB port You will need a user supplied USB A-to-B cable 3 You may also opt to use an external 12V DC power source which plugs into the motor’s power jack

Insane! if you can afford it, get it. I installed this on my nexstar 6se. Install is dead simple. It does take a up an AUX port so if you are like me and only have one aux, you need to buy at LEAST a 2-1 aux splitter that celestron offers so that you can use other accessories too. For me i use starsense as well as the wifi dongle which also requires another aux, i ended up buying a 3-in-on splitter offered by other third party products here on amazon, and i can use wifi, starsense anda this focus motor at the same time.
Gives you really really precise control. You can adjust by way of three sensitivity settings. (fine to coarse adjustment) Controlled via the hand pad if you are using aux. If youre connecting direct usb, to a pc, you can use your pc to control it as well.
The motor itself is .... not quiet but neither is it super loud. Just sounds a bit like a small kids' remote control toy car motor. When you top the motor, it does spin a TAD more due to inertia -- its too bat it isnt like a dewalt power drill where the motor stops on a dime with no excess spin -- i'm not sure what the technical terminology is for that ? but i think you understand what i mean. For this price tag, i kind of expected that quick stoppage of motor. NEvertheless you get used to it and anticipate stopping early. I gues you CAN go to level "1" which gives you REALLY slow precise spins.. but that is a few extra menu pressage.
Anyway i'm just nitpicking. It's definitely worth upgrading if you have spare money

Overall very happy with the product and it is helping me focus easily on objects. If I note down the focus location after once focussing on a particular object (planet in my case), I find it so easy to punch in the same numbers and the Focuser motor very faithfully brings that object in focus. No guess work!

Bedienung über Handcontroller okay, über APP nicht gut.
In N.I.N.A integriert funktioniert über entsprechende Treiber. Manuelles scharfstellen problemlos möglich.
Gestern erste Versuche mit Autofocus, funktioniert prinzipiell, leider waren zu viele Wolken.
Klare Kaufempfehlung !
Nachtrag: Autofocus funktioniert jetzt zuverlässig unter NINA.

Overall the unit is quite robust in construction and slightly quieter than the Evolution mount motors.
