I don't know what's with people giving this a 1 star review. I think some of them expected them to be the old school rental store clamshell cases? Or one person complained they ship flat, but that's just logical since they're thin.

First off, these are not the thickest and sturdiest VHS tape protectors. If you really need to protect valuable tapes and won't be opening them, get the Malko ones. However, these do the job. They open and close easily, and they're thick enough. They're also just slightly bigger than the Malko ones, so they fit things like the 80s Star Wars tape cases that are 1-2mm larger.

These do the job exactly as intended. Yes, you have to assemble them, but it takes seconds to fold each crease so that the tape slides in and out easily. These have become my go-to to protect all the generic tapes in my collection.

These arrived flat-pack style but God help anyone trying to fold them out and put them together. The plastic is the grade you'll find covering your packet of blades, that is, not even half rigid enough to form into a useful box. The flaps are so stubborn that you will have difficulty inserting the VHS tape even if you DO manage to put the box together. Outer "lid" flap must either be (a) taped to the outside of the box or (b) if tucked in, will stick out and prevent the tape being fully and properly inserted.
With a few modifications (all of them ruthless) I have managed to stuff one or two tapes into these wretched things and, for sure, this affords at least a tiny or partial bit of dust-protection: crucial, as dust is the big enemy of both VHS tapes and VHS players. But I am on the look-out for a grade of box of similar quality to those in which VHS, when it was the thing, was originally packaged.
Meanwhile, avoid.
