This is a nice keyboard to learn on. I like the feel of the keys and the way they feel weighted.The sound is adequate for the price. I do find that the only sound option that is usable with headphones is the default piano sound...the others do not work. That's the only sound option that I use, so this doesn't bother me. Without headphones, they all work.My plan is to use this for a year to learn on, and then upgrade. I will still keep this one around though, as it's a real nice keyboard.

I have been playing the piano for 10+ years. In my opinion, this keyboard is a great choice for beginners. It's also a good choice for other players with different levels of experience who are looking for a "portable and good" option.

Although the keys are touch responsive, this keyboard does not have weighted keys and the keys feel very different from a professional keyboard/digital piano (but I would say this is pretty easy to tell from the item description & the price of the item).

Overall, I'd say that this product will meet your needs if you're looking for a beginners keyboard/portable solution.

I wanted a very portable keyboard, something that could just sit beside my computer, and on a whim, I could practice any song I might be interested in. This keyboard fits the bill. I tried smaller 37 key keyboards, but they were just too small. This one, at 61 keys fits the bill. It is extremely light, and does not take up very much room, and has touch sensitivity, and runs off of batteries. I have more expensive keyboards in my music room, that are bigger and heavier, that I use for more serious work, but for just quick playing around for a little bit, this keyboard is just perfect.

The only problem I had was finding a case for this keyboard. All the cases I found were too big, too small, or too expensive. But I finally found one, and its not a keyboard case at all, its actually a camera accessory case, but it fits perfect, with one caveat, you need to use scissors and cut out and remove the inside pockets from the case, (otherwise the zipper wont pull together and close, be careful to not cut the outside part of the case) but this is very easy to do. Search on Amazon.ca for " heavy duty photographic padded carrying bag ". The 39 inch model. HBP03-US (39"), for $36 dollars. After cutting out the padded inside pockets, the zipper will pull closed with the keyboard inside. I then attach the music stand to the outside velcro handle. Its an excellent (but tight fit), and a perfect case for this great keyboard.

The size, weight, quality and sound is perfect for beginners. Even though Casio has another "better" product (With keys that light up) this Keyboard has worked perfectly for me. The quality of the materials is good but at the same time is super lightweight easy for a kid to carry.

I received this today .. the Casio Casiotone work very well with batteries BUT the power brick is DEAD ... so I will have to get it replaced

I had another look at the power brick ... I had it plugged into a power bar and the switch looked on but was not SO flipped the switch to make sur it was on and it worked ... USER ERROR ...

FIRST: IT DOES COME WITH ITS OWN AC ADAPTER.
So, I'm just one step above a beginner. I've had some music training but am not a performer. I just needed a good portable keyboard that wasn't a little kid's toy. This is NOT a toy. Mind you, it's not a professional unit worth thousands of dollars. But if you're like me, you do not need that kind of a pricey keyboard. If you just need one that you can keep handy to get in as much practice in as possible (and with MIDI capability), this might just be as perfect for you as it is for me.
The construction is wonderful. Even the keys have a very nice tactile feel: not shiny, but a smooth texture. Other small details are the copy stand which is a great design, slipping nicely into the handle opening; it is not a flimsy, thin plastic type like most. This copy stand has some substance to it, it is not bendable. And even the surface where the bottom of the pages sit has some grooves in it to keep them from slipping around; those are the kind of details this keyboard has.
Performance-wise, the speakers are excellent; great volume and quality. The feel of the keys are not weighted, but they're not described as such. They feel like an electronic keyboard, with some bounce, but easy to get used to. Again, if you're just using for practice, they are fine. They're comfortable. And they are full size piano keys.
The number of tones?! Holy cow. There really are 400! Haven’t heard all of them yet! lol But the ones I have heard sound great.
And it is easily attached to a USB port for MIDI use. What I loved about it is that you can leave the audio on and connect to your DAW for MIDI at the same time, using audio from either or both, computer or keyboard speakers. THE MICRO-B/USB CABLE IS NOT INCLUDED. However, they are very inexpensive. I just bought a package of 3 different sizes for less than $10.
And this keyboard has a handle!!! LOL I especially wanted one that I could carry around the house, when the whim hit me, to noodle around on the ivories, and just get better at it.
I've gone through several keyboards, trying and sending each back. I was beginning to think I would never find the perfect one. But this one is the perfect one for me! Great quality. Easy to carry around. And reasonable price.
Oh, one thing more: It is hard to find a keyboard like this that isn't clogged up with controls along the top, making it extra deep, front to back. This one has a nicely trimmed console along the top of the keys, so that, proportionally, the length of the keys make up about 3/5 of the depth of the keyboard. I love that. This thing is mostly just 61 full-size piano keys.
PS: I only received it today, so haven’t even begun to learn all of its features. It has so many.

I love this thing, it's perfect for someone like me who just wants to learn to play for fun. I have no idea what I'm doing yet but I believe this is the keyboard that will last me from beginner to intermediate. I chose this model because of the semi-weighted keys. I was advised against any keyboard without this feature as it would feel like a toy and become obsolete after the beginner phase. It doesn't feel weighty like piano keys but it's not bad! I love that this is compact - it's perfect for my room in a sharehouse. Although it's not light enough that I would carry it around, I know that it won't be a headache to move if I relocate house or want to take it on a plane with me. I have it displayed on top of a narrow storage unit where I play standing. I put legs on the unit so it was raised to the appropriate height, and I cover the keyboard fabric to prevent dust buildup. I have had no issues with it. I bought "Casio Power Adaptor Supply 9.5V Blister Pack, Black, (AD95BP)" from amazon so I could use this plugged in without running off batteries.
