If you just set it on the table, it's exactly what you think it is. Three rows is a lot of room for cards.
Using the little hand grip isn't particularly comfortable, but I didn't buy it for that.
Just be careful how you arrange your cards so you don't give away what you are doing in your hand.

I've just started playing a card game that usually takes about 2 hours play time, and can generate 15+ cards to try to hold and manage at the same time. This 2-piece set has been fantastic to allow me to organize my many cards and to hold them for me, saving my hand muscles. With 3 ridges to hold the cards, it's easy to put cards in or pull them out without disturbing the other cards. Plus, I can hold the stands if I want to, or keep them standing on the table. The curve helps to keep my neighbor from "peeking". And the carry pouch works great in-between games. I definitely recommend these!
