I have bridge cameras for years now and they are my "working horses". The camera is coming with me on my hikes and walks for scenery, birds, butterflies, flowers. I do not take photos when it is raining or snowing. So there is no need for me that the camera is water protected. This one is the fifth generation for me following an it is following Canon's Powershot SX60 HS.The main reason why I got this one was that my old one stopped working properly in a few situations which were important to me. I expected an improved viewfinder and I was not disappointed. This is also the biggest improvement for me compared to the SX60 HS. Other new features are the possibility for panorama pictures and a higher resolution for movies (4K). The camera weighs now even a little less. But you cannot use anymore an external flash (I do not miss this feature). The sensor offers now 20 Mio Pixel instead of 16 Mio Pixel for SX60 HS or even 12 Mio Pixel for SX50 HS. I am not sure if this is an improvement. Theoretically you could get a better resolution and therefore make better magnifications of the photos or make bigger prints. On the other hand it seems that the camera is working not anymore as well under low light conditions. Though I prefer taking photos under good weather conditions sometimes there is just not enough light. This would be for example closer to dusk and dawn, in the forest or generally in the shadows. The lens offers a good enough tele zoom if you like to catch the ring of Saturn. Unfortunately the bigger resolution did not really help. Instead of showing more details the processor prefers to produce just the picture of a kind of a ball. Details of the Moon are shown well though photos seem to be a little softer than photos of the SX60 HS. So in these cases you do not see an improvement either with the theoretically higher resolution. Another thought to that: Modern full frame cameras like the Canon EOS R6 have the same number of pixels on a full frame sensor. The full frame sensor has an area of more than 80 times larger than the small 1/2.3" sensor of this camera. The location of some buttons changed from SX70 HS compared with SX60 HS. This is overall just a matter of getting used to it.Another improvement is a sensor close to the viewfinder. It is supposed to detect your eye and the camera switches automatically from monitor to viewfinder. Though this feature is welcome in some reviews I do not find it so great. The SX60 HS switched to the monitor when it was swung out. When it was closed the viewfinder was on. Now it happens once and a while when I am taking a picture of a flower on the ground that the camera switches from monitor to viewfinder though I only want to use the monitor which is swung out and tilted. The reason is that I get accidently a part of my hand in front of the sensor. I also experienced a problem trying to take pictures of the night sky like Jupiter and its moons from a tripod. I swung the monitor out and it remained dark. It looked like to me that the sensor got mixed up with the darkness and was acting like the eye of the photographer was close to the viewfinder. These are the main situations for me of using the monitor and unfortunately unwelcome things are happening. Some people miss a touch screen on a relatively expensive camera like this one. It is probably a matter of personal taste. I definitely prefer buttons and wheels to touch screens and so I am quite happy with this part of the camera.Other features which are not new but still nice: You can take close ups as close as you like. Most of the times the shadow of the camera is the limit how close you can get to take a photo. Sometimes you like a macro picture without getting to close to the animal. Butterflies for example do not like it really when you approach them too close. But if you take a photo from lets say 2 m it still can be ok. And a 1,365mm tele from 2 m shows quite a few details. The specifications say you could get as close as 1.5 m. To my experience it never worked closer than 2 m but this is still great. The wide angle of 21 mm is still appreciated very well. The sky with its clouds can look very impressive. If one is lucky to see a rain bow it is fitting now into the photo. Though I would not say that this camera is generally good for interior photos (not so good in low light) a wide angle lens like this is sometimes quite helpful. Some things to criticize: The camera uses again different batteries and a different plug for USB-cables compared to SX60 HS. This cable is not part of the package. If you want it you have to get it yourself. I prefer the cable to get photos on the computer. WiFi is definitely working by far too slow (maybe some people have a faster one) and as long as the camera is sending photos (or even worse movies) the battery is working. And you do not get out too many photos from one battery. Using the memory card and a card reader is another possibility. But I am not very happy to remove often the memory card from the camera. It looks a little fragile for all this handling. So I stick to the cable. Some recommendations from my experience: Always try to take more than on photo. For example taking photos of the Moon. For reasons I could not really explore not all photos are sharp (though there is a tripod, though manual focus is infinite, though the shutter speed is unchanged). The same with birds. In this case the autofocus needs sometimes to adjust. One has to be lucky too that the bird has enough time left for the photos. In snowy conditions it might be good idea to go for -1 exposure compensation. You might see more details in the otherwise only white snow. If you try to take a photo sitting on a branch towards the sky go to +1 exposure compensation. Otherwise you probably will see only the silhouette of bird. It is always worth to consider a second battery carrying with you.Overall I do not regret the purchase of this camera. It fulfills very well my purpose.

I bought this to bring an a trip. I was looking for something that would be easy to use and carry around. If you are familiar with a higher end camera, then this works much the same. You can leave on automatic but have the option to play. I love being able to take a picture without having to use the view screen at the back. I am happy and looking forward to taking lots of pictures.

Love the zoom Quality of photos is great but low light is poor unless aperture priority and manual used (not an issue for me) . Follow subject feature is a bit flaky and results in hard to focus on subject on occasions. Solution turned it off and much better. Light-ish to carry which was ultra important to me and long zoom takes great moon shots. (on Manual not automatic). Best part for me was it was an Amazon repackaged box (slightly damaged) and condition of camera was perfect (Like new). At discounted price this was an amazing deal. Well done Amazon and supplier on this it was done right and with the right discount.

Writing a review after 3 months of usage. Firstly, this is not a "dslr". It's point and shoot camera. I bought it for bird/wildlife photography. And I must recommend this camera if you want to capture birds or insects or even butterflies. Zoom feature is simply superb and can capture distant objects at ease. Image stabilization is good within 65x zoom limit. If you want to go beyond that, I suggest buying tripod or gorilla pods. Learning the various modes is so easy and camera adjusts most of the things for you like there is auto for every setting. Finally, if you love birds and tiny objects, this camera by canon is my first suggestion. I am satisfied with its performance in this price range. The only drawback is battery life. I felt charging it quite frequently. But the rest is perfect.
