rp 24-105

RP 24-105

Lightest, Smallest Full-frame EOS Camera*

For all their appealing features one of the concerns of using a full-frame camera has been its larger profile, however, the EOS RP is the lightest and smallest Canon EOS full-frame camera to date.* Weighing approx. 440g (body only) while being impressively compact and comfortable to use, the EOS RP is more convenient to carry, shoot with, and store than any previous EOS full-frame camera before.

RF Mount Compatible with RF Lenses and EF/EF-S Lenses**

Compatible with EF/EF-S Lenses**

Engineered to work seamlessly with RF lenses, the EOS RP also maintains complete compatibility with EF and EF-S lenses by using one of three optional Mount Adapters. When using EF-S lenses, the EOS RP even crops automatically to reflect the APS-C sized sensor the lenses are designed for.

54mm Large Diameter and Short Back Focus

The RF mount on the EOS RP camera has a large, 54mm internal diameter – the same as the EOS R – enabling impressive handling and providing increased flexibility for lens design. Thanks to the camera’s mirrorless design, the lens’s rear element can be much closer to the image plane. This reduced back focus distance, combined with the RF mount’s 54mm diameter, helps facilitate lenses of stellar optical quality and stunning performance while enabling innovative compact camera and lens designs.

20mm Flange Focal Distance for Increased Durability

All RF lenses feature a 20mm flange focal distance, which is the distance from the lens mount to the surface of the image sensor. This flange focal distance balances the benefits of short back focus with the engineering requirements necessary for mount stability. Accordingly, the RF mount’s flange focal distance ensures excellent optical performance while maintaining the mount rigidity and camera durability necessary for real-world operation.

12 Pins for Quickly Communicating Large Amounts of Information

With a robust 12 pin connection between the camera and the lens, the EOS RP camera and RF lenses are able to communicate at a high speed, transferring a large amount of data and information for incredibly fast AF, plus enhanced image stabilization and optimization.

Variety of Mount Adapter Options for Expanded Compatibility with EF/EF-S Lenses

Mount adapters, such as the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, deliver seamless connections between the EOS RP camera and EF and EF-S lenses with all functions intact. Offering L series level weather and dust sealing, the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is even compatible with EF extenders like the Extender EF 1.4x III to extend your camera’s optical reach. Beyond enabling use of EF and EF-S lenses on the EOS RP camera, the Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R and the Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R add functions that open up a number of new possibilities for creative image capture.

High Image Quality with 26.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 8 Image Processor.

26.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor

The EOS RP camera features a Canon-developed and produced 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with approx. 26.2 effective megapixels. It employs the DIGIC 8 Image Processor to enhance the speed of operations across the board. This means fast, efficient performance and phenomenal image quality for big prints.

ISO 40000

The EOS RP camera has a standard ISO sensitivity range of 100–40000 for stills and 100–25600 for video (100–12800 for 4K video shooting). Combined with the EOS RP camera’s remarkable low-light AF performance, still and video shooting is possible even in dark situations.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF for Fast and Accurate Auto Focus.

High-speed Focusing in Approx. 0.05 sec.*2

The EOS RP camera’s highly responsive Dual Pixel CMOS AF system features 4,779 manually selectable AF points*1 gand can deliver sharp focus within approximately 0.05 seconds*2. This means fast action can be captured and focus can be maintained with speed, accuracy and ease.

AF Area Coverage of Approx. 88% x 100%^1

The EOS RP camera features an expansive focus area of approx. 88% horizontal and 100% vertical^1 not only with RF lenses, but also when working with select EF lenses. With older EF lenses, or with Extender types I and II, the EOS RP focuses approx. 80% horizontally and 80% vertically. This means fast and impressive focusing even if your subject is way off center.

AF Points and AF Area

The EOS RP camera features a sophisticated AF system with a maximum of 4,779 manually selectable AF points^2, which covers almost the entire image sensing area. The EOS RP can also be configured to focus on specific areas, using an extended range of selectable modes that include 1-point AF, Expand AF Area, Zone AF and Spot AF in addition to the conventional Face+ Tracking AF.

RP 24-105

RP 24-105

RP 24-105

Excellent Low-light Performance

Amazing for nighttime photography or in very low light, the EOS RP camera’s brilliant AF can operate in light as dim as a light rating of EV -5*3where other AF systems may fail or search. Phenomenal AF is achieved even when using lenses with high F numbers. This ultra-sensitive AF works in concert with the EOS RP’s EVF to clearly capture subjects even when there’s limited light.

f/11 Compatible in All AF Areas

The EOS RP camera’s brilliant AF system doesn’t just work with bright lenses. With the EOS RP, autofocus will operate over nearly the entire image area even when used with compatible f/11 lenses. For example, users can take ultra-telescopic 800mm shots using a compact EF 100–400mm f/4–5.6 IS II lens together with an EF 2x III extender, and AF will function properly over the entire field. When used with a III-type extender, the effective AF range is limited to an area roughly 88% x 100% of the total image frame, or 80% x 80% if combined with a I/II type extender.

Variety of AF Modes including Eye Detection AF

The EOS RP camera’s Face+ Tracking mode helps enhance reliability for tracking moving subjects. When the camera detects a human face, it uses the subject’s eye as the AF point, choosing the eye closest to the camera by default. Photographers can also select which eye to focus on by touching the screen or using the camera’s AF point selection button and cross keys. Eye Detection AF can also be used in conjunction with Servo AF and Movie AF modes.

Focus Peaking

Among the EOS RP camera’s manual focus aids, Focus Peaking helps establish the focus area quickly and clearly. With manual focus peaking, the outline of the area in focus is indicated by a colored line. Focus Peaking is usable in conjunction with the EOS RP’s Focus Guide feature, and can be customized with peaking color and detection level specifications that fit the project at hand.

0.39-type OLED EVF with Approx. 2.36 Million Dots

The EOS RP camera features a high-precision 0.39-inch OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) EVF with approx. 2.36 million dots and a 22mm eyepoint. The electronic viewfinder (EVF) has been created to provide a bright, sharp and colorful 100% view of the subject at hand. Equipped with an aspherical lens, the EVF shows a crisp and vivid image with minimal distortion, even when the eye moves off the center of the visual field.

The EOS RP EVF has a bright, 22mm-high eyepoint design that creates a generous 30mm space between your nose and the rear of the viewfinder. This makes it easy to compose and view images in the viewfinder with or without glasses.

The EVF’s 0.39-inch OLED based display features approximately 2.36 million dots for an incredibly sharp and detailed image that makes it easy to check focus and view the extensive image data that’s displayed.

Touch and Drag AF

Touch and Drag AF makes it fast and easy to select a focus point without taking your eye away from the viewfinder. Using the Touchscreen LCD, it’s as simple as pointing to the desired area of focus. The chosen AF point is then displayed in the camera’s EVF for quick confirmation.

Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD

The EOS RP camera features a 3.0-inch, 1.04 Megapixel Clear View LCD II Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD. Brightness is adjustable in seven levels. Its extensive flexibility makes it easy to compose and shoot from virtually any angle, making selfies simple and enabling the LCD to fold away when not in use. The brightness of the EVF and the LCD monitor can even be adjusted individually – a first for an EOS camera. Touchscreen features include settings, review and even AF point selection.

Shooting Modes

A mode dial is featured on the top of the EOS RP camera to provide quick and easy access to a number of shooting modes and settings. For instance, the SCN option – or Special Scene Mode option - gives you the opportunity to select from a variety of settings. This includes modes such as Food, Group Photos, Kids, Panning, and even Silent Mode—perfect for situations where the shutter could be turned off. To set individual features to Auto or Manual, the user can use the Fv mode (Flexible AE) to quickly adjust functions such as shutter speed, aperture setting, and ISO sensitivity.

Special Scene Modes

The EOS RP features a variety of Special Scene modes –such as Food, Kids, Sports, Group Photos, Landscape, and more. Handheld Night Scene and HDR Backlight Control are two other Special Scene Modes featured. The Handheld Night Scene mode captures nightscapes with bright highlights and detailed dark areas. The HDR Backlight Control mode ensures that backlit subjects are not recorded too dark.

Received my EOS RP and was very pleased with it. It feels excellent in the hand and feels a like a high quality peice of work. The dials move easily yet not such that at the slightest touch it would change selections. I plan to take a lot of pics and so purchased extra batteries as well. For a "Beginner" Mirrorless camera, the EOS RP takes some quality shots. I'm a novice photographer, however I am very pleased with the quality of photos I can get with this camera, and I still haven't figured out all the settings yet.
For a "Budget" full body camera this thing is a beast. Great for novice photographers. Canon's UI is also pretty user friendly. Would recommend.

Camera its self is ok, but that’s less is not worth it. Skip the lens and buy ef lens or some f2 lens
Don not buy with f 4-7 lenses, useless

I was on the fence for a while about upgrading to a mirrorless. I brought up questions and concerns in a photography facebook group and someone had mentioned that it is a GREAT 2nd camera for once I'm able to upgrade to a more professional grade mirrorless camera. I figured why not and I was NOT disappointed. Truthfully when I first got it I wasnt a fan but thats because I needed to get used to the functions and differences from my previous camera. Was worth my money for sure!

First and foremost, the EOS RP's compact and lightweight design makes it a joy to carry around, making it an ideal choice for travel and on-the-go photography. Don't be fooled by its small size; beneath the surface, this camera packs a punch with its full-frame sensor, offering exceptional image quality and low-light performance. The ability to use Canon's extensive range of EF and RF lenses is a significant advantage, allowing for versatility and creative freedom in your photography. 100% recommended!

I've owned so many great APS-C and full frame cameras both high and low end. This one is my favorite! Canon just nails the colors and so I now rarely shoot raw since the jpgs are that good. The camera fits my hand like a glove and it's super compact but very comfortable to hold - even for extended periods. All the buttons are in easy reach and the camera is highly customizable. The evf and lcd screens are more than adequate and I have no issue when manually focusing (very precise). Autofocus and eye tracking are awesome too - makes shooting portraits a breeze!
There are few knocks like battery life, but nothing to really complain about - especially at this price point. Well done Canon!

This camera is amazing. I use it almost exclusively with vintage glass. Nikon, Leica, Takumar, Helios and so on. I even mount an old Meyer Optik Gorlitz to the camera and with the variety of adapters out there, they all work. Of course you need to set the camera to manual but thats half the fun. All manual allows your artist to come out. Set the cameras MF Peaking feature to enable and change one parameter to allow the shutter to function without a lens and your good to go. With the 24-105 RF lens, the focusing is great and the lens is absolutely whisper quiet. That is great for videos.
All in all a great camera.

I previously had a Canon T3i and I absolutely loved that thing. It was amazing the results that camera could do for its time and I will always think it's one of the best budget cameras ever made. However, I've recently gotten more into video and that is one thing the T3i wasn't meeting my needs for. It was missing so many features like autofocus and modern video resolutions and frame rates.

Therefore, my search for a new camera began. I seriously debated nearly every camera in this price range from every manufacturer. Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, you name it. However, it seemed like they all had one fatal flaw to them. Sony with their weird coloring, Fujifilm with the overheating issues, Panasonic with the awful autofocus. Some were better at photos, some were better at video. However, I needed something that would do great with both, as I wanted this to be something I could shoot professional portraits with but also shoot vlogs. At the end of the day, all signs pointed to this camera, and I'm so glad this is the one I chose.

I'm not a super-advanced user, however, I do think I've moved past the beginner stage of photography and videography. I think this camera really fits me perfectly as I'm not incredibly overwhelmed with options and features that I don't know how to use, but it still has a ton of capability that allows me to learn more about photography and videography. I've also just been using the 24-105 kit lens that comes with this bundle on Amazon.

The video on this is amazing. HUGE step up from the T3i. The face detecting autofocus works great and nearly all of my shots are perfectly in focus unless it's super dark which it has a little more of a struggle with but obviously any camera would. I was a little hesitant about the fairly disabled 4k capability with this camera due (disabled dual pixel AF, crop factor, 30 min time limit, 24 fps max) especially since other cameras in the price range have a more robust 4k capability. However, I've found that 1080p meets my needs just fine and looks absolutely gorgeous. It's also much more friendly on the file size and processing in video editing.

The photo capability has shocked me even more than the video. I knew this would obviously be a great camera for photos, but I didn't realize what a step up from my T3i it would be. I honestly thought my T3i photos would look just about as good as this camera since the T3i does admittedly take amazing photos. However, this blows it out of the water. The autofocus on this is SO much better. With the T3i, fast moving subjects were nearly impossible to get in focus. This does so much better. The full-frame sensor on this camera makes a huge difference too. The low light performance is so much better and the size of these photos is insane. You can zoom in to the photos so much and it's still amazingly clear.

As for the body of the camera itself, it feels incredibly well made. Grabbing my T3i now feels like a cheap plastic toy compared to this thing. It feels very solid and durable. The grip on the camera is incredibly easy and comfortable to hold.

The only negative thing I've encountered so far is the kit lens that comes with this bundle doesn't have a physical switch between autofocus and manual focus. You have to go into the camera settings to switch between them. I don't find myself doing this very often as the autofocus is amazing but when I do need manual focus it's a little bit of an inconvenience.

Overall, it's an amazing camera and I'm very happy that I went with this one.
