When I read some of the reviews about this kit I wasn’t sure if I would be disappointed in the kit or not. But based on the good price and easy return policy if not satisfied I decided to take a chance. To my surprise I wasn't let down at all! The kit is great. I was worried that this would not be a solid set. However, the stands are good quality and easy to set up. Although not a “professional kit”, it is a perfectly good starter kit..
The backdrops are a little thin and you would not want to put them in front of a window, but I set up the backdrops in our living room with furniture behind it and it worked perfectly. The backdrops come folded with wrinkles as expected but I used my hand held steamer to smooth out the creases. I guess alternatively if you don’t have a hand steamer then using a hot iron to take out the wrinkles would work as well. Then I used the clamps that were included in the kit to stretch the cotton muslin backdrop tight on the side of the stand. (I set the width of the crossbar to 5 feet to facilitate the attachment of the backdrop to the side of the backdrop stand).
The kit comes with two 45 watt fluorescent bulbs and was not an issue with lighting up my small living room (I live in a 800 square foot condo). I could see in a large room that the two bulbs would not provide enough light. I set the lights 3-4 feet away from the backdrop and laid a sheer on top of the green muslin backdrop to create some effects. The images came out great! I was amazed at the light quality which was excellent.
I wanted an easy to use and portable lighting kit and this is a perfect light weight and cost effective kit. Overall a good value for the price kit. I think those giving this kit low ratings are being a little too harsh, after all what do you expect from a kit for $150?.

Fragile kit, easy to break! get something a little bit more expensive!
this studio kit has a really low price which makes it really convenient for newbies who are in low budget, however you get what you pay for.I will go on things that are not mentioned in the specification of the product and how this product met or didn't, my expectation.starting with the light stand tripods: they were light and easy to operate, however all the joints were made out of plastic and were really fragile, you wouldn't want them to be opened all the way or it would come off completely or even bend.the green screen tripods were as fragile as the light tripods, in fact one of the joints just broke the first time I set up the kit. the shaft that the green and black screens rest on are extremely fragile and the green screen barely covers the whole shaft length, not to mention you have to iron the screens to make them smooth.Coming to the umbrellas: they seem to be ok, but one of the umbrellas lock mechanism was defective (I tried to contact them for a replacement, its been a week and no response yet)The lights: the lights were functional but not bright enough to make its being useful.bags: the bags that this kit come with are decent compared to the tripods.overall opinion:this kit can't be used for serious photography, or studio purposes. You get this kit to have fun for couple of weeks and then it wont even be functional anymore, and remember the customer service would not have the time to support you. I was very disappointed with all the problems this kit brought to me, I was doubting about it when I saw the price and I was right. so if you are looking for a decent functional kit try to look for one that is more expensive, it will be much more beneficial for long term.

The backdrops are a little thin and you would not want to put them in front of a window, but I set up the backdrops in our living room with furniture behind it and it worked perfectly.
