Calibrite ColorChecker Nano

For those extremely small or close up projects, the Nano version of the ColorChecker target provides a precision colour reference for the tightest or most close up shots. Measuring just 24 x 40mm, the Nano is the smallest target within the ColorChecker range and is an ideal tool for macro, art and object photography.

Calibrite ColorChecker Passport Photo 2

The Passport Photo 2 combines four photographic targets into one pocket-size protective case that adjusts to any scene, allowing you to set exposure, create custom white balance, colour profiles and much more. Together with its camera calibration software and Lightroom plugin, you get the ultimate functionality, flexibility and portability for a more perfect colour journey.

Calibrite ColorChecker Classic

The ColorChecker Classic target is designed to deliver true-to-life colour reproduction so that photographers and filmmakers can predict and control how colour will look under any illumination. Each of the 24 colours represents the actual colour of natural objects and reflects light just like its real-world counterpart. The ColorChecker Classic can be used to create camera profiles, correct white balance, colour correction, colour grading and more.

Calibrite ColorChecker Classic XL

This is a larger version of the ColorChecker Classic for those shots taken at a greater distance like at an outdoor event or for drone photography. Measuring an impressive 533 x 375mm, the Classic XL is the second-largest photographic target, with only the ColorChecker Classic MEGA overshadowing its size. The XL target is an ideal tool for things such as wide landscape shots, large set and interview shots and aerial photography.

Calibrite ColorChecker White Balance

The ColorChecker White Balance target is spectrally neutral to deliver accurate white reproduction for both photo and video workflows. Use it to perform custom in-camera white balance to ensure precise, uniform, neutral white - under any lighting condition.

Calibrite ColorChecker Gray Balance Mini

The ColorChecker Gray Balance Mini is the smaller version of the standard-sized grey balance card, measuring only 63.5 x 109.0mm. An 18% grey reference for exposure metering and grey balance in photography and adjusting your camera's colour sensitivity to exactly match the ambient lighting conditions, as well as verifying grey balance in video workflows through camera, light and film configuration.

The Grey Balance card is available in two sizes, Mini and Standard.

Calibrite ColorChecker 3-Step Grayscale

Simplify camera and studio lighting balance with the Calibrite ColorChecker 3-Step Grayscale target for performing quick colour adjustments and evaluating studio lighting conditions. A white, grey and black target, all on a single card to capture accurate colour before your photo session or video shoot, eliminating unnecessary editing time and effort afterwards.

Calibrite ColorChecker Digital SG

Obtain the widest colour gamut available! I knew I should probably have one of these several years ago and was curious, but starting out on a low budget with so many things to acquire and to learn it got pushed to the back. There is definitely learning to be done for these. Even if I'm not there yet I am doing more projects that get passed on to others for post-production of video or being requested to deliver photos that end up in national publications.I am gradually using it in house as I learn the ins and outs. At some point it will be an automatic part of the process. I had a one-on-one tutorial with a specialist from the manufacturer 4 years ago so I understood the reasoning behind it. I liken it to instrument flying an aircraft. If you are going to use this system then trust it because it's an objective tool from start to finish in the workflow. What I do for now is place it at the start of my important sessions and then basically forget about it. I include it in the footage and groups of photos that get sent to post so if they think there is an issue with colour or exposure they have this universal chart to work from. In that respect it's been a value add for me to show clients I'm conscientious about my production and it's always there for me even if the content is filed away for years. The 21 second video example was shot from over 30 feet across an event rotunda with the white lights dimmed and dozens of lights in various colours taking over. You can see the purple hue on the wall behind the chart. I was shooting crowds of attendees and also capturing performers on the main floor and guest speakers at a podium. The other samples are polished stone sculptures that can pick up all kinds of hues from the surroundings. They are displayed in all kinds of lighting, even 3 or 4 different mixes of light because they get moved from venue to venue. Out of camera they can be different colours every time.

There are a lot of reviews (here and YouTube) saying it's expensive for a piece of plastic. Yes, if all you were buying was a piece of plastic, it would be overpriced. But, you aren't. You're buying the plastic as well as the integrated software and support that comes with it. Really, this is a great value and it has saved me countless amount of hours when editing. I shoot a lot of food and products so making sure that colors are exactly how they are in real life is important. Using just a standard white balance card is not enough. I had purchased an $8 white balance card set. Between that $8 and this $100 (roughly) passport, my regret is wasting the $8 in the past.

If you shoot photos of food, products, or anything where correct colors are important, this is a must. Cheaping out and getting anything less won't give you the easy-to-use plugins for Lr and you'll still have to spend hours making sure everything is correct. Don't waste your money elsewhere, just get this and be happy you did.

Much handier than the full-sized sheet/card, as it has its own hard plastic protective case and props itself up (tent-like) for photographing. Painfully expensive, though.

I had held off buying this thinking I could just use the camera profiles in Lightroom. But those profiles are terrible. So I got this and made profiles using both the X-Rite software and Adobe Profile Editor. They were also not very good. Then, after reading about it in a forum, I bought Lumariver Profile Designer for $30. I load the photos of the passport into Lumariver and I'm able to tweak the profile to my liking, and when I say to my liking, I mean to produce the most accurate colors. I have made profiles already for all kinds of lighting scenarios, and they are ready to go when I edit in Lightroom. Also, the white balance patches are accurate and the case closes up tight to protect the patches from the light. Fits in your pocket.
