Zipper was busted, height was too low and I did NOT receive a refund!
Update:It is one month later and I have not received a refund. The tracking number shows it has been delivered. I am ticked off!What I had not mentioned in my original post is that I had ordered two other music stands from this company before ordering the returned one. One for when I stand up playing my instrument and one for when sitting down. The one I use sitting down had a foldable cradle, like the returned one. (I never used it standing up that’s why I had not noticed it wasn’t as high as the other one, not suitable for my nephew)The irony of it all is, that then, I received the foldable damaged. The metal arms that were meant to keep the music in place were bent out of shape and could not be bent back. Since I didn’t use these arms anyway, I decided to cut off them off with my dremel tool, and not complain or return it. However, now I think I should have… THIS COMPANY IS NOT HONOURABLE!I feel ripped off that I didn’t get a refund and will dispute the charges. Original post:The zipper on the bag was split when the stand with the foldable upper part arrived. With a lot of fiddling around, trying to move the zipper up and down, I fixed it, and was able to close it, but I didn’t trust the longevity of the zipper much after that and expect it will break sometime soon. This stand was meant to be a present for my nephew. I mentioned my zipper concern to a family member and found out she had bought him a stand as well. We compared stands and found the one I bought did not go up as high as hers. My nephew is 6.1ft tall and would have to look down quite a bit to read his sheet music, which is not the ideal position. I am 5.6ft tall, and I myself had to look down at its highest position as well, so I decided to return it, but was charged more then $16CDN for the return. I am NOT pleased with the charge OR the height and thought to make you aware of it. Otherwise the quality of the stand is not bad…

We looked into buying the more "famous" name brand folding stand, but it was backordered 4-5 weeks. We took a risk on this unknown manufacturer and it paid off. It's very easy to assemble. If you've had to assemble folding stands before, it will be second nature. If you've never folded stands before, it will take a try or two to "get" it. It's definitely heavy and should stand up to the mountain breezes of summer camps. The stand also has music holders will are great! Additionally, if you play gigs while standing and you're tall, you'll be fine with this stand. My son is 6'2" and the stand goes even higher than he needs it while standing.
CONS: Honestly, there aren't really any cons. I guess the only thing would be that the holder for music is slightly more narrow than a traditional metal stand (see side by side pic of normal stand with portable stand), but this also makes it more portable. If you look at the photos, you'll see that it's still wide enough to hold an open book (using those handy page holders). The leg width at the bottom also doesn't go as wide (keep in mind I do NOT have the legs fully extended in the pic). Still wide enough to be solid and not wiggle.
Great product. I would buy again if needed. This stand is well made, solid, and will stand the test of time (and the test of a teen!).
