Another review from the **Long-Term Review Guy**I TYPICALLY don't review a product until I have been able to test or use it for at least a number of weeks or months. This allows me to test its' durability/reliability and also lets me see how enjoyable or comfortable it is over the long term. For this battery charger, I am making an exception after its exposed/non-insulated wiring caused an electrical arc between me and the charger, plus a brief fire in the engine bay of my Chevy.This is a review of the....10-Amp Car Battery Charger, 12V and 24V Smart Fully Automatic Battery Charger Maintainer Trickle Charger by NEXPEAK (a no-name "brand" that seemingly only sells on Amazon)~~~~~~~~1. I am retired now but worked as a mechanic for nearly 20 years. I bring this up to hopefully squash any folks out there who immediately are concluding that I didn't connect the charger properly.2. One thing I did not think I had to do was inspect the insulation of the wiring/cables coming out of the sides of charger before using it (I sure as heck will moving forward) but I assume the the cable connected to the charger clips had the same gap and lack of insulation/cable coating as the power cable coming out the other side. If so, those exposed wires were likely crossed and touching each other on the battery cable side and made for an explosive and painful experience when I tried charging the battery.~~~~~~~This is definitely one of the most warranted 1-star reviews out there right now because there WAS a huge spark show and small fire (my wife and neighbour can confirm) and I was mildly electrocuted in that I got a blister, brutal headache (which never happens) and walked away seeing stars which I was told by my doctor a few days later is NOT normal.Summary:1. Stay away from no-name "brands" that aren't even brands at all - just a generic charger made in a factory with a name stuck on the side and sold on one website.2. For a compact charger, I had a NOCO charger before that was great but I lost it or it was stolen (I simply cannot find it so assume I left it in the back of my truck by accident and....damn!). I have learned my lesson. Stick with names that have a good reputation and are actually a brand-name.3. Stay away from this one despite the positive reviews. I thought that maybe I had a lemon but upon closer examination, the components are cheap and it is a hazard in my opinion. Plus, some other reviewers have had similar experiences with their chargers arriving with non-secured cables.I hope this has been helpful.Stay safe.

Very good charger for a very low price. It can handle all 12 or 24-volt DC batteries including AGM, Gel, and Calcium-type car batteries (Calcium uses the AGM setting as it requires higher voltage during charging (EDP).
It is recommended that you disconnect the terminals since charging is higher voltage and isn't monitored by the car's charging system. This is especially important for EV cars. Don't plug the charger in until you have attached the terminals to the battery first. The short AC wire is actually a good design since it's easier to store. Use any appropriate extension cord that is long enough. Lastly, the unit adjusts for warm, normal, or cold temperatures. The display cycles through three metrics every few seconds. The metrics are charging voltage, battery temperature and remaining current (measured as amps not watts). Basically the latter will count down to zero amps then show that the battery is fully charged. The voltage is dynamically controlled by the charger based on feedback it gets from the battery charge rate and temperature and ambient air temperature. The unit seems reasonably well made.

I hadn’t used my boat in over nine months and when I went to use it, the batteries were totally drained. I figured I had to get new batteries but speaking to one of my friends they said it’s worth it to try and revive the batteries.
After looking on Amazon, I came across this listing and decided to give it a shot because of the positive reviews from similar issues, as well as the low price point.
When I first attached the charger, the battery strength showed no bars meaning zero power. I put the battery on Repair mode for about five hours and within a few hours I started seeing the status bars climb to 40%.
I then switched the mode to standard charging mode. Within six hours, it was 100% fully charged! I can’t be happier!
