Story time:Our 2018 Velar 2.0 Diesel was having issues with some bad DEF fluid - "Diesel Exhaust Fluid incorrect quality" after what we can only assume was some DEF that had frozen before being purchased.After draining most of this fluid the car reported "Dosing Malfunction" which went away after we drove for 75KM. Known issue.Great issue resolved!! Not so fast...A week later while we were on a trip to Northern BC the "quality" message appeared again and while I was able to clear the quality message with a cheap code reader the "Dosing Malfunction" would not go away...Here is the kicker, the car will only give you 450KM before it will be in "No engine restarts possible" mode and we had 900KM to go to get home and to the closest Land Rover dealer... So we had to keep the car running until we got home. We made it home and I contacted our local dealer (who sold us the car new).The quote they gave me over the phone was $3000.00 plus to replace the DEF dosing system. They had not even looked at the car and would not entertain the idea of flushing the system...I figured there has to be a better way so after finding a few videos online about DEF issues and how the AUTEL seems to be able to handle DPF regen I figured it was worth a shot.After getting the tool our Velar was back on the road in 15mins with the Code cleared. I did flush the DEF fluid again and 1500KM later still no return of the warning.I am not sure if the Standard 808 has the "Reset Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) start inhibit or not as I did not want to take a chance but the MP808BT does and as I said this saved me a lot of money and on top of that the tool is very useful for the Velar and my 2004 M3 E46

Used the MP808BT for an ABS bleed on a 2007 Ford Focus. Very easy to use and also much quicker than other scanners. I looked at some of the other Autel versions, but decided to go with the Android 11 OS. Android 4 is now being discounted, but I think it is a pretty old OS to be using when buying a new scanner.

Access to a lot of information on every make and model out there. Logging capabilities, Reset of service reminders. etc. Will give you access to the modules that your basic code reader will not eg bcm tcm suspension etc. features vary depending on make and model but I have not found any that I cant get the information out of. None of these pieces of equipment are going to fix the vehicle for you or tell you what to replace the user has to understand how the vehicle system operates and know what they are looking at. What these tools do is give you access to the systems and the ability to see whats going on and this Autel does that very very well. You also have 2 years of updates with this model.

Even though this is advertised at a 2023 unit it is not. It is really an updated version of the 2022 unit running android 4.4.4 Kit Kat the newest model 2023 unit runs Android 11 which is much newer and much faster along with being more secure. For most people this will do just fine and it comes at a great price point and comes with all the adaptors which the new version does not. If you want the latest version pay extra and by the newer MP808 PRO otherwise for the average Jo this will do most everything the newer unit does but not as fast.

I am a 10+ year auto technician, first 8 years with a Mercedes dealership and now I work for a land rover dealership….compared to factory scan tools this Autel is great for resetting service lights, clearing codes, checking live data, among many other useful features. Been using it for a few months now and it 100% helps me do my job faster. Love the fact it’s Bluetooth..you can auto connect it and leave the scanner on your toolbox not having to sit in the car while using it is very helpful. While it might be a little pricy I’ve found buying direct from Autel on Amazon is the cheapest option…anyone who works in the auto industry knows the pitfalls of tool trucks and I have to say my days of buying tools off a truck are long gone.
