1. Full feature (except numbers pad)
2. Very compact, low profile and sturdy due to the steel backing
3. Keys have a nice feel and hard to make a mistake even when typing fast
4. Fairly quiet and non-fatiguing in use
5. Installs almost instantly on Windows 7 PC, true plug and play
6. One charge lasts 3 weeks and going strong in daily use.
7. The on off switch is great in saving battery.
Minor Cons for future improvements:
1. There should be a storage cavity for the tiny dongle.
2. The green lights last barely one second when the keyboard is turned on, should be more like 3 seconds.
3. Would be nice if a tilt adjust is built in.
Overall, excellent keyboard for the price. Recommended.
My problem is that, sometimes, when starting to type, the first one or two key strokes are not registered. It's like if the keyboard was in sleep... but just after a few seconds of non-use. There is also the problem of delayed key stroke. Several times now, I've been able to see quicky enough that my first stroke hasn't been registered, so I stop and when I hit a second key (it could be 0.5 or 5 seconds later, it doesn't matter), both key strokes are registered at the same time. It's really annoying when using Enter, Backspace or Delete, the kind of keys that you use once, don't see any change on the screen so you think you just missed the key so you hit it again to see a double Enter/Backpace/Delete been registred.
When I reported the issue, consumer support was fast to respond, to try to diagnose the issue with me and to send me a replacement unit. Unfortunately, the replacement had the same issue and I now doubt very much that a second replacement unit would change anything.
So to conclude, the keyboard as great layout, good feel for the type, good battery-life. It's compact, lightweight but not too much, it doesn't flex. And it is also affordable. Unfortunalty, this key stroke issue ruins everything. If a revision 2 ever come out, I'll be ready to try it out, especially if it has white backlight.
== UPDATE April 26th 2020 ==
I got full refund for the keyboard and I've been tell that the issue has been fowarded to their engineers. I updated my rating to 4 stars from 3 stars.
Pros:
- fullsized for all the essential keys (numbers and letters, space bar)
- normal placement for Esc, Tab, Shift, Backspace, Enter, slash (\) and question mark keys
- keys are responsive, have a good spring to them and enable fast typing
- no wireless lag
- thin (almost flat) but very sturdy, there is no flex
Cons:
- ghosting (e.g. press both SHIFT down, and then next key likely won't get recognized)
- left CTRL key is small because of Fn key
- no backlight
- cursor keys are small
- lack of dedicated PgUp, PgDn, Home, End keys
- aluminum back is a finger print magnet
No idea how long the battery lasts, but its easy to charge as I have access to micro USB everywhere.
If Arteck makes a larger TKL version of this with backlight, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
I had a problem with one of the keyboards after about a year of use. One of the keys began to require much more downforce to engage, resulting in a disruption of normal use.
I contacted Customer Service and was incredibly pleased with their response. I explained the problem to them, and they immediately sent me a replacement keyboard at no cost. I had the new keyboard within two days. Overall a great experience.
Top reviews from other countries
I very impressed with the design, and prompt delivery service. Nice feel and response to the keys. (Possibly a bit small for extra-large fingers), but this is what I wanted. Minimally quiet but with a nice tactile 'feel' and responsive 'springyiness' . Stylish, non-slip metal base, gives this light keyboard great staying put power, with just the right amount of ergonomic weight.
I never had a rechargeable KB- Its lovely. It came charged for a day or so use, and it seems that after a brief full charge it will last for quiet sometime. (comparable perhaps to my 2xAAA previous arrangement)
-[post edit: I can confirm that I may of experienced the tinyiness of inconvience, plugging in this elegant keyboard for a brief few hours (2-3, I don't really recall), One (or perhaps 2) other time/s in the last 7+ months]
The same day it arrived I also (later) brought a mouse from Arkeck after being impressed from this intial purchase -which is also v.good. The very helpful tech support staff, quickly reponsed to my email and assisted me with to get the two wireless products working with only the one USB dongle. Always handy to free up a USB.
I have had it for about a week and all is good. And the team reminded me to ask for the complimentary 24 months warranty. Bargain price too, as I received a 18% discount, although I may have missed out on a futher discount promotional code (Unless I am confussed, as it may only be valid for an addional buy- I was tempted to buy a spare).
Partically impressed. If only I could give more stars, this harsh critic would.
I don't often feel compelled to write reviews, I hope this is helpful.
Post edit- 7 months later I accidentally split water over the keyboard and it eventually gave up, but after mentioning it to the wonderfully support team, they very kindly sent me another one absolutely free. Their English is not spot on, yet they are amazingly supportive, replying promptly and I receive this new replacement within 24 hours I think (but perhaps that is because I temporarily have Prime).
I also should note their excellent eye for design also extends to their wonderfully executed high-end packaging (interlocked card hinges/doubled over walls for strength)-with minimal non-recyclables [in fact I am actually using the single clear plastic bag, as I have left the keyboard inside the protective seal, because of my clumbsy nature - and it still [almost] as elegant
I am partically impressed and I extemely likely to be a loyal customer for future purchases.
I also love the fact that it has an internal battery that can simply be recharged by the included charging cord (same charging cord for most Android based smartphones). Some reviewers said that the keyboard comes fully charged. I did not find that to be the case, although it fully charged in about an hour. In my experience the battery life itself has exceeded my expectations. I've been using it for about 2.5 weeks on the same charge and it is still going strong. It stays on nearly all the time because I almost always forget to turn it off when I leave work.
The tiny rubber pads on the bottom are extremely grippy so if you are worried about the keyboard moving around on you while you type, trust me, it will not. The keys also have a nice, responsive springy feel to them and I haven't had a mistype yet. I didn't check the functionality of every key, but by now I have used almost every single one, and they work perfectly.
I also love the fact that it uses a USB dongle as opposed to bluetooth. I have used bluetooth keyboards in the past which were okay, but always seemed to be finicky, or simply take too long with connecting after turning the keyboard off and on. This keyboard connects instantly, and stays connected.
I am going to be a little nit picky now, and mention a couple of things I would like to be different. Firstly, the power switch location. It is located on the under side of the keyboard. This doesn't really affect the use of the keyboard, as it is a low profile, clicky slider. It seems solid, and doesn't contact the surface of my desk while using the keyboard, but since it is on the bottom, you have to pick up the keyboard and turn it over every time you want to turn the keyboard on or off. This isn't a big deal, and I know it, but I think it would have been much better if the power switch was located either one the side of the keyboard, or along the front edge. Again, nit picky, but still.
The other thing that I cannot wrap my head around is the orientation of the volume keys. The volume decrease key is on the right, and the volume increase is on the left. This is backward from every keyboard I have ever used. This seems like a small discrepancy (and yeah it is), but every time I adjust the volume, I will turn it up when I meant to turn it down or down when I meant to turn it up. Notice the orientation in the included pic.
I feel like I have had a chance to really put this keyboard to the test. The only thing I don't yet know is how long will the battery last. Truthfully, if it died while I am typing this review, I would have no complaints. The charge has lasted for quite a bit of use already (much more than my previous wireless keyboard). The nit picky things I mentioned are just that, and wouldn't make me think twice about buying this keyboard again. It looks great and works perfectly, and I am much more impressed with it than I expected to be.
