As much as I LOVE the Shelly product line for it's behind the light switch modules I recently upgraded to the Aqara door sensors. I have an older version of the Shelly Door sensor and the batteries went dead after about a year. The batteries are two CR123 Lithium, which are relatively hard to find (I'm in Canada). I put new batteries in the Door sensor and it just wouldn't stay on. I tried a couple of times but the door sensor just wouldn't keep awake. Frustrated and knowing that this would be a losing battle I decided to look for another solution. I use door sensors to keep my light on in the dark pantry when I'm rummaging around. The Shellys worked well but the lag time was frustrating. I had to stand in front of a darkened pantry until the light decided to turn on. The light switch has a Shelly dimmer behind it and the Shelly Door sensor activates it. Anyway, I purchased an Aqara door sensor and installed it and WOW what a difference! It's a "Zig-Bee" device so you need a controller (I have a Conbee 2 hub connected to my Pi running HA). I don't use an Aqara "hub".The Aqara Door sensor came up right away and pretty easy to install. I replaced it in my pantry door automation, for opening and closing the door. Now the light comes on right away. The Aqara is smaller, lighter and way more responsive. I didn't have to worry about finding an IP address or have to manage that in my home router anymore.I would HIGHLY recommend the Aqara over the Shelly if anyone is interested. Yeah, you should have Zig-Bee installed on your HA and you do need a controller but the Zig-Bee devices work really great in my set up.I have an Aqara "Cube" which is set up to tap different sides to turn on various lights, toss it up to turn all the lights off. I've set up each side also so that when I flip it on a particular side the music changes. Spinning the cube left or right turns the volume up, or shaking it pauses the music. I just love the Aqara devices.But... I still like the Shelly's for my behind the wall light switches. The dimmers are great and my house lights dim or brighten as I need to have them programmed. "Alexa" it's TV time! So, Aqara door sensors over the WiFi Shellys have worked better for me. Hope that helps someone?

Easy to pair with my google home nest hub. Had to restart the device to get the paring to work, but after that it was simple. Open/Close status works great and I was able to add automation to auto-lock my door (using Schlage encode plus) when door status changes to closed.

I've had many smart switches over the years, so far this is by far my favourite.

Great value for price.

The kit comes with a very attractive exterior cover plate, which you can simply not use if you're in a multi-gang box, plus 3 wire nuts and 4 screws. It's not abnormally deep, like some other smart switches. It's shallower than a regular GFI receptacle.

Installation is a straightforward replacement. Note, however, that you will need a ground, so check to make sure you have one. You might not if, for example, your switch is in a plastic old work/remodel box, and they didn't bother to run grounded Romex into it.

The switch requires their Zigbee hub - it is not wifi. It says so in the description, but it's worth reiterating.

It paired with my hub in 3 seconds. When commanded by Alexa or Google it switches within a second. When using the Aqara app it's as fast as using the physical switch - because it's local to your home system.

That's one thing I really love about the Aqara ecosystem: control is local to your network by default and doesn't rely on a cloud server, except for extended features like remote control outside your home, or getting cloud data, like weather or sunrise times. So, if your internet goes down you can continue to run local automations and control your lights, for example, on a door or motion sensor or the app (if you're home).

I use it with home assistant zigbee2mqtt, works fine for a time then just randomly stops working. It's only a few feet from the main ZigBee coordinator. Have had it over a year and it's one of the only devices that consistently messes up or stops checking in (the other is also an aqara sensor, surprise). I gave up fighting with it and got different brand sensors and haven't had a problem with them. Avoid these unless I suppose you're using an Aqara hub, they don't seem to follow the ZigBee standard properly.

Paired instantly on my SmartThings hub, you do not need Aqara hub to make it work :)
Once setup in ST, Alexa recognized it via the SmartThings-Alexa integration.
This device is more reliable (uses the zigbee mesh network), uses less power (phantom load) than other wifi switches I owned before who connect permanently to your wifi network and may clog signal. ZIgbee devices run locally on your hub, whereas wifi devices need a thirdparty cloud integration.
Light clicking sound when turned on or off which does not bother me. My house does not have neutral wiring, this wall switch saved the day !

I love how simple and about the right size this single button is and yet allow to perform 3 functions. As for Zigbee integration it was super quick, remove the battery tab, hold the small button while your Zigbee in discovery and a few seconds later all is setup. Did this on my Home Assistant setup but I image any Zigbee master setup would be the same.

Once setup, you can trigger a single, double, or long click. This can for example easily program a toggle for a light switch on single click, a scene for that light like movie time setting a lower intensity and different color on double click, and perhaps a different scene for that light on long press. Or even get long press to do something entirely different if you have another switch on your network or via Home Assistant. In my case, I had it toggle a ceiling fan.

The only hiccup I found and had me doubt my setup at first is the single click need to be really short, it feels like not even ½ seconds. I will try to figure if that can be adjusted but if not or as stock that was a bit annoying at time as it would no trigger my programmed functions. Maybe need to get used to it or some people may have no issue with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars No neutral, requires a hub - but fantastic quality.

I had some old light switches that controlled my dining table light, and ceiling lights in the lounge that I wanted to incorporate into my smart home. Instead of adding unnecessary traffic on my WiFi network by adding a bunch of WiFi light bulbs, I added a paid of these to the light switches instead. These were easy to swap out, look amazing and operate flawlessly.

The pros of doing it this way:
* Much lower cost that replacing all the light bulbs with smart light bulbs
* Doesn't add unnecessary load on a crowded WiFi network
* Maintains the light switch functionality as before - toggles the lights on and off as normal
* Avoids issues that might occur if you turned off a light switch with smart bulbs - you'd lose control over them. This problem doesn't exist in this case

The cons:
* Zigbee device and requires an Aqara Hub - I would recommend the M3, although anything from them will work. You can also use third party Zigbee hubs, and integrate into Home Assistant for example
* No neutral comes with a price premium. Ouch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Home Assistant

I got these because Aqara has a good reputation for working seamlessly with generic Zigbee hubs and Home Assistant. I don't use the Aqara hub or app at all.

Pros:
- They look quite good attached to a wall. (Vastly better than the big orange plate you get with the Sonoff ones.)
- They're reliable. I almost never get disconnections. It can take a while for them to come back after a power outage shuts down the hub, but they always come back.
- They're fast. Temperature changes get posted very quickly when they happen. Within a few seconds, usually.
- They're efficient. If the temperature is stable, they'll only ping in once an hour or so.

Cons:
- None to speak of

I've had one installed in my bedroom for six months and it's reporting about 60% battery remaining. I'd like to see that closer to 75%, but I also don't know how accurate it is.

I love the Aqara P2 Door Sensors. They've given me peace of mind that my home is safe when I'm on the go!

Even non-techies will find the setup of the P2 Sensor easy to accomplish. A warning to the wise, do not remove the sticky tabs until you understand exactly where on the doors the sensor is to be placed. I thought I had them positioned correctly until I realized I would pull the sensor off if I opened the door. I had to pull both parts of the sensor off my door to reposition them, but since the adhesive side is so sticky, I had to pull hard! They grip so well, that I can see them lasting for a lifetime of use.

I've added the Aqara P2 Sensors and a Kasa Switch garage light switch to the home Apple ecosystem. With the two, I was able to create an automation that instantly turned the Kasa switch on when my Aqara P2 door sensor was triggered and turned off the lights 10 minutes later. I was amazed at how fast the Aqara P2 was able to turn on the Kasa light switch! I had to slowly open the door to see if the lights were actually off, otherwise, it looked like the lights were on before I opened the door it was so fast.

This and the ability to ask "Siri, turn off the garage lights" is a huge win!

These have been a life saver in my new house. All my bed rooms are on the same electric circuit so come summer time we can only have one AC on at a time. This was tough with young ones with hot nights. Ended up using these plugs, and they worked great controlling three different ACs so we can cycle through them. Currently I am using them for my under cabinet
Lights on a schedule. They perform flawlessly.
