First of all, Amazon never delivered my item. I was waiting all day ever since the “Out of Delivery” status. But they were kind enough to refund me the money, and so I went to Apple Store the same day because of my impatience.
The charger is useful if you’d rather have a hybrid between a wireless charger and a normal charger. Is it really amazing? Not really. It heats up a lot, sometimes when I watch shows while using the MagSafe charger, it almost burns you fingers and hands. This is normal, it’s science, the law of conservation of energy. Excess energy is transformed into heat, as not all 100% energy gets transformed into chemical energy. However, this product is very inefficient.
Also, when I put my phone on my bed, in the morning, somehow the charger is detached, and my iPhone ends up with no power, which was never a problem with the regular lightning cable. Furthermore, I find it very slow, even 15W is too slow, if you need to somewhere when your phone is at 15%. I know this is first world problems, but if you paid $50 for a charger, you should get somewhat of a good experience.
Yeah, I love the new MagSafe accessories, I even have myself the MagSafe Duo, which I like for my Apple Watch. A good use for MagSafe i believe would be the car mounts, but maybe the wallet. But the Apple wallet fall off very quickly, so that’s also not amazing.
If you don’t mind any of the above, sure get it! But personally, I wouldn’t get another MagSafe charger, unless Apple makes iPhone port less which will force everyone into getting one.
You can get a lightning cable, but a generic adapter for less than the price of a MagSafe charger.
