Still, they broke down over time (one of the buds stopped working after a while) and I was left with the decision to buy another cheapie ($30-$40) set or perhaps buy something in a higher priced category.
Already having a few Apple products, I decided to get these Apple AirPods.
I am 100% satisfied with this purchase for several reasons:
-The quality build of the pods is really good. Smooth, with just the right amount of weight to them.
-The charging case is also quality. The way the unit opens and closes is very satisfying.
-The fact that the case works with a wireless charging mat is an excellent feature
-The feature where the pods turn off when they detect they have left your ears is super convenient
-Can be paired with Siri for voice control of some features
-Excellent battery life on the Pods and on the charging case
Overall, super happy with this product. I could have easily just purchased the cheaper brand again, but they would have broken down over time. One of the major differences between these Pods and other 3rd party pods I've used is that their connection is unrivalled. I live around some tall buildings and sometimes on windy days when I was out with the 3rd party pods, the connection would get caught off. With the Apple AirPods, this is a thing of the past.
I have an Iphone and when I'm in the car and about to get out, the Iphone will disconnect from my car's bluetooth, and with the AirPods still in my ears, as I walk away from my car the Pods continue playing right where I left off. It's super convenient when listening to a good audiobook or podcast that gets to a good part right as you get home. The Pods come on and continue the audio seamlessly.
The audio quality is good: I mostly use mine for listening to podcasts, talking on the phone, and yes listening to music. The voices come in crisp and clear with the right amount of voice. Music listening is fine: fans of bass-y music might wish the Pods had a little more punch. But for most everyday music listening, just running errands or at the gym, this will more than suffice.
I also really like that you can charge the AirPods inside the case very quickly. I forget to charge them all the time but in the mornings all I have to do is put them in the case for about 5-10 minutes and then I have about an hour or more of listening time.
Something that I found interesting before making this purchase but it did not deter me: the battery inside the Pods with regular use will last about 2 years. I expect that to be the case for me, maybe even a little sooner simply because I use them all the time. But, for me it's a fair trade-off for the quality of the product.
I've had these AirPods for just over 2 months and I love them.
Lost one of my previous ones. I love to wear them daily to work they hold up their battery life about half a day so 4hr or so. They hold in the ear very well. The sound that plays is great. They are mostly noise cancelling headphones
Rating: 5/5 stars
I love earphones. I love Apple. I love Apple AirPods (2nd generation). They're the best earphones ever. They're like wearing magic in your ears.
The earphones are sleek and comfortable, the sound is crisp and clear, and the battery is long-lasting and fast-charging. They're like listening to music with a pair of angels. They're easy, they're smart, they're flawless. They're my favorite accessory.
The best thing about Apple AirPods (2nd generation) is that they work seamlessly with all my Apple devices. I can switch between my iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch with a simple tap. I can also use Siri hands-free with a simple "Hey Siri". I can do anything with them.
Apple AirPods (2nd generation) are my joy, my pride, and my everything. They're the only earphones for me. They're the only earphones you need. Trust me, you'll be amazed. In a good way.
Buds –
1. Longer battery in the product but shorter charger in the case
2. They are in ear, so need to be fitted properly. Adjust them and you’ll find that the sound is wonderful. That being said…I happen to have ears that don’t go well with in-ear for more than 20 minutes.
3. More controls
4. They do stay in your ear better.
5. Slightly more clear talking for the person on the other end of a call
6. With both in you will essentially not hear much around you at all, which can be good or bad (they double as ear plugs IMO).
Pods –
1. Shorter battery in the pods, longer charge waiting for you in the case.
2. Outside of the ear canal so they sit there like the wired pods
3. Surprisingly not many functions. This can be overcome by just using SIRI for say, “hey Siri, volume up!)
4. Clear voice calls, apparently the Buds sound just a touch better.
5. You can hear around you so again, that may be good or bad.
At work/phone calls - Both came back working very well and the functionality is on point.
Workouts – Buds stay in better but honestly, unless your banging your head to the side rigorously à la “Night at the Roxbury” style, you’re kosher.
Meditating – Pods win for me. In a weird way, I could hear every single thing inside my body with the Buds. Some people may actually enjoy this though, but I prefer not to hear myself clearing my throat like I’m actually in there.
Personally, I will painfully be returning the Buds as they simply don’t work well with the size of my ear canals. If this was ok, it would be a serious toss-up as they are both fantastic.
That’s about it for now. I’ll post this on both as I did purchase both.

Also, if you opt for wireless charging, buy the case with the gen 2 AirPods and you’ll save a few dollars.
If you already have the 1st gen, then it’s probably not worth the upgrade. If you are looking to buy your first pair of AirPods, then go for these.
