So I mainly use this as a monitor for my security cams (Tinycam Pro for RTSP cameras, and Unifi Protect for Unifi cameras).

Tinycam Pro is available on the Amazon App Store, but Unifi Protect is not. I had to use something called Fire Toolbox, which installs in less than a half hour, and I was then able to add the Google Play store and run Google Apps like the Unifi Protect app.

On the last gen 10" Fire Tablet, TinyCam Pro would have all sorts of trouble displaying 8 concurrent feeds on the screen. With the latest generation model, it has no issues.

The screen, CPU and WIFI are noticeably better than the last generation of the tablet.

In terms of form factor, it's pretty similar to most Android tablets of the same size. The build quality is pretty good, and if you need a case or keyboard, there are options for you to buy on Amazon. The speakers sound fine for the price point of the tablet.

I got my tablet on sale during Black Friday, but even at full price, it's still a pretty good value, depending on what you intend to use it for.

The tablet can be limiting if you are only sticking to the default configuration (no Google Play store), but it is still fine for general media consumption. If you're adventurous and add Google Play support, it takes it much further than the base configuration, although not all apps will support the device.

All in all, I'm glad I upgraded from the previous generation.

This tablet is a amazing, in my opinion it is better the iPad and Samsung tablets I so wish I had of bought it sooner it so fast and affordable and really bright colors and so clear and holds the battery very well even with all day playing I honestly can’t say enough good things about this tablet I would highly recommend and I did I got my aunt to trade her Samsung tablet for one and she is very pleased with hers as well we are both very happy customers thanks Amazon Fire

Almost unbeatable price for a 10" tablet when on sale. Yes, there are $80 generic Chinese Android tablets available on Amazon, but its hard to know which if any are decent quality. The tablet certainly is decent quality and is more than adequate for typical tablet type use such as web browsing, watching online videos, messaging etc. Screen is bright and battery life also is good. It could have more storage, but that could be easily fixed by adding an inexpensive SD card (way better to do that than pay extra for the 64G version - the standard version has 32G).

The main down side is that the Amazon App Store is only has a fraction of the Apps that are on the Google Play Store, and this custom Amazon version of Android does not include that. How important is that? Well if you are browsing the web or reading an ebook, its not an issue. If you need a specialized App - in my case a teleprompter App that was suitable for my needs - the offerings on the Amazon Store did not include what I needed (although in fairness it did have some teleprompters). The solution for me was to put the tablet into developer mode and side-load the Google Apps needed to run Google Play and then side-load Google Play itself. After Jumping though those hoops, I had Google Play working after about 20 minutes and was able to load and run the teleprompter App I needed as well as the real Firefox and YouTube Apps (Amazon does provide its own browser and YouTube Apps but I would prefer the original ones). So - is it worth doing this? Well I think doing this as a typical user would be quite hard. I have done Android SW development so not an issue for me. Also there are risks of side-loading Apps so best only do it if you are very familiar with it.

Bottom line - if you might need more than the most common Apps already installed or in the Amazon App store, might be worth considering paying $100 more for something like a Samsung that has a more standard Android OS that includes Google Play. But for 90% of users, this would be a great tablet.

This is not a powerful tablet and there are apps that it cannot run, but I think it's well-made and terrific value for money if you want a tablet for consuming media, and simple e-mail or social-media tasks. It ships with a very restricted walled garden of apps and a bunch of Amazon stuff, but (a) it's quite possible to install the Google Play Store and access all apps, and (b) you can place all the unwanted apps and icons into a folder and keep them from overwhelming the desktop. The screen is excellent, the sound reasonable and the battery life pretty good. And it's a world improved from an older HD 10 I had been using for years. Recommended.

After purchasing the tablet from Bestbuy we were very excited about the purchase. It was meant as a content consumption device for the whole family. The good is good. The screen is nice, the brightness is reasonable, the Sound is passable, and Bluetooth works well. The Wi-Fi isn't the best, I wish it was 6E. But the software, beyond the things everyone talks about (adding Google Play etc), is the biggest issue for me and my family. We have one Amazon account and several profiles. As a household with 3 adults under one roof. But what I would consider basic functionality like multiple adult profiles is unavailable to Canadians. Likewise, Canadians don't get Amazon Household library features. As a tech enthusiast, I looked through countless videos, never realizing that features our American friends take for granted aren't a thing here above the 49th parallel. As an Android user and a Google Home enthusiast, all my Android devices have offered this baked-in for years, if not a decade almost. What else is left to be said, the snail's pace at which Amazon rolls out functionality outside the American bubble is frustrating. If I could find my damn receipt I'd return this to best buy for a real Android tablet. I mean for the price of this tablet, and a decent-sized memory card I could have gotten a much better Android tablet with more RAM, storage (8gb/256gb) and a case.
