I like the product, it turns my lamp on as intended. It is marked as UL,NOM,ANCE,FCC, and ICES certifications or compliances. Oddly there doesnt seem to be any CSA mark though. Most people seem to forget that this thing (and most other similar smart plugs) have a tiny little relay in it, and these little relays are only rated for resistive loads, see below:Resistive and Inductive LoadsRelays are often rated for switching resistive loads. Inductive loads can be very hard on the contacts of a relay. A resistive load is a device that stays electrically quiet when powered up, such as an incandescent light bulb. An inductive load typically has a violent startup voltage or amperage requirement, such as a motor or a transformer.Startup and Runtime LoadsInductive loads typically require 2-3 times the runtime voltage or amperage when power is first applied to the device. For instance, a motor rated at 5 Amps, 125 VAC will often require 10-15 amps just to get the shaft of the motor in motion. Once in motion, the the motor may consume no more than 5 amps. When driving these types of loads, choose a relay that exceeds the initial requirement of the motor. In this case, a 20-30 Amp relay should be used for best relay life.As per that description, dont use these things with high amp load devices, especially ones with big motors or heating elements in them, this can be potentially fire causing.

Use it for a lamp. Great for setting a time to come on. If I am out I don't come home to an empty house. The voice control with my Alexa is really convenient.
Great product. Highly recommend.

I love how this is Alexa activated! It is especially perfect around Christmas time for the Christmas tree. It is very easy to set up and use. I only wish that it wasn’t as expensive, but it is worth every penny!

Easy to setup. Connected to system and was setup in less than 5 min.
More expensive than 3rd party options, but for the easy of install and use, I would rather spend the extra money.

Okay, I wasn’t interested in getting “smart” plugs (primarily because I didn’t believe they were all that smart 😂)

But I was shopping for light bulbs for my floor lamp. And I saw a sponsored ad saying Alexa smart plug for $10😳 curious. I clicked it. And saw it’s $35+ and I could get it for $10😝 well..... I was curious about smart plugs. And it was $10 so I decided to order one

So the item gets here and I got it all set up pretty quickly. MY FIRST ADVICE is don’t toss the manual😂 I went ahead and plugged in the plug and I found out during set up that you needed the funky little square code. It’s either scan the backside of your plug. Or scan the manual. So. Keep the manual. Makes life a tad easier during set up.

Now. Getting Alexa set up on manipulating the plug was a little more difficult than I thought

Apparently if you’re using it to turn on and off appliances. It’s easy. But for Alexa to know it’s a light that you’re wanting on and off you need to do one extra step and assign it as a light. So that the app knows what to do during the ROUTINE you set up

I have to say. After a 30 mins hiccup trial and error setting up the settings in the Alexa app. I really LOVE the smart plug.

I work graveyards. So I get home around 6:30 am. Go to bed around 10-11 am. I wake it’s 5:30 pm and during the winter it’s dark. I find it hard. To get out of bed. When the room is dark. But now I can just say ALEXA GOOD MORNING and she turns on my floor lamp. 😃

And what’s even better. I get ready for bed. Watch tv. When I am ready to sleep. I say ALEXA NITE NITE and she turns off the floor lamp.

I don’t know why I didn’t buy one sooner. This is amazing 😆 I’m so tempted to buy a few more so I can turn other stuff on and off without getting out of bed..... such as my CROCK POT AND CROCK POT CASSEROLE COOKER...... the only thing is. The price is too high for me to consider doing that around the whole house. It would have to be around maybe $15 a plug for me to think it is worth it to outfit my entire home with these plugs.

That said. It works amazingly. And I highly recommend you give it a try. The first one is so affordable it is worth trying it out to see if it can make your life more easy.

I decided to order it already linked to my echo. It came and was plug and play right out of the box. I connected it to my LED lights and just say “alexa turn off lights” and they’re off! This makes it so easy especially when I am already sitting and don’t want to get up.

My upstairs smart plugs work fine and almost always work unless the main Alexa Plus is down, which is very rare.

The downstairs plugs used a Kasa and a Smart Life set of apps; I purchased a few of the first, then when I wanted more and couldn't find that brand I purchased some of the other.
Both of these periodically have updates on the iTunes store.
Following an update, they need to be re-added before they work again, which is a pain.

One of the plugs has refused to work at all since the most recent app store update (but the other plug of the same type (Smart Life app) still works after re-adding it).
I tried the Amazon Plug since there is no third party app to use it.

The setup instructions didn't work perfectly.
I basically tried to setup, it failed.
Then the troubleshooting said to hold the button, forcing it into rapid flashing/pair mode.
Doing that worked.
But the actual setup procedure didn't work; that's one star off.

The plug periodically will not turn on or off, either through Alexa's voice control or the phone Amazon app.
Whatever the issue is, the plug fixes itself without needing any input on my end.
It's still annoying when the downstairs fan (which blows cooler air up the stairs) refuses to turn on.
That's a second star off.
Unreliable, even if it probably works 90% of the time.
