Fast setup, easy integration, lacks continuous recording
This has excellent picture quality, easy setup, great price, and was easy to integrate with my other blink cam and devices. My only gripe is that there is no continuous recording feature for 24/7 recording. I learned this later, as many of these cameras work on a motion based system that allows for 30 second clips to be saved and is detected by motion only, so if you are trying to catch something when the systems are not set to be capturing motion, you will not see be able to go back and watch when no motion is occurring. If something is detected, you will get a series of 30 second clips that only continue to record only if more motion is detected, with small 10 second gaps between clips. You need to pay for a subscription of 30 days for this system. Otherwise you must get the blink home module and use usb drives for storing your footage. The blink subscription is not very expensive and is what I will be using as I like to access footage from my phone. These do have a section where you can select which areas of the picture you would like motion to be captured from. Meaning I can set the camera to only alert me if someone is walking on my entryway rather than capturing the lights from every passing vehicle. Aside from the lack of continuous recording, it still does all I need it to do. I do wish that blink had a home motion alarm/panic button system. This would help secure my employees when they are alone within the business and discreetly alert me of an incident. I like that when my phone is on do not disturb, I will still receive alerts through my Alexa devices if motion is being detected within the business in the detection zones I have enabled. This floodlight, paired with my swivel blink, is a great little system for a very good price. Thanks Blink!
Camera is great as all the other blink ones. Only issues are 1. It takes D batteries and 2. There is no way to have the light work on a timer. It's either always motion detected or off. Would be good to have a setting that it only works between times. Otherwise it's a great camera!
I bought this unit again and installed it in my front door just two months, the big Duracell D size batteries are gone! As the front door had a post light of 5000 luminous security light, my floodlights needed not to turn on while capturing videos but the four D batteries just gone and dropped to 1 volt, possibly the cells stored in Amazon several years before shipping to me, I had to buy the new rechargeable D lithium ion batteries from Amazon for this device…make me sad!
Purchased this camera a month ago worked great for the first month, the day I purchased the monthly plan is a day the batteries died so I went and bought new batteries twice now and replaced them but the camera will not turn on the light flashes when I insert the batteries, and then instantly shuts off, super upsetting as it was great while it lasted
Update: Seemed to have gotten past the always offline issue. Amazon did replace the unit without any issues at all. However - I have this and the doorbell camera. Both work but I have to say the Live View feature is pretty unusable. I have a high speed connection at hom and have tested to the devices (the doorbell is roughly six feet away). When I get a notification from either this camera or the doorbell the connection takes about 1 to 2 minutes and often just fails. I had switched to the blink doorbell from Nest because I bought this camera - but will have to switch back to make it usable.
Camera batteries seem to be dead after a week. Installed which was pretty straightforward. Worked the first two nights. Then it only gave notifications and no videos. Then it went offline all together. Ordered new batteries to replace the ones that came with, however if I have to replace batteries every week then no point. I also used all the default settings to ensure best battery life. :-(
