Fast and HOT
Upgraded from a 5700G to this chip, wow is it ever fast. I highly recommend water cooling, I'm using Coolermaster's 240mm AIO option and it's able to hold stock speed without throttle. Overclocking will require better cooling.First Image is the CPU at idle. Room temp at the time was 20.7°CSecond image is CPU at full load. Room temp is the same. After a couple of months, I'm extremely happy with this chip.

This is a discrete cpu and will need a graphics card for any video output. Built a barebones mining machine and had to buy separate video card for bios settings. Performs great.

A bit of a late review, but I have been using this for ~3 years, and it is still nowhere near obsolete. It's expensive, but is a fantastic CPU if you can afford it.
If you are running CPU-heavy tasks, this thing will make short work of it.

At one point, I decided to build a entry level small PC that was more used as a day to day light duty computer. I wanted something that was compact so I settled for a Lian Li A4H2O. I stuck a 5600 in there with a 4060ti and it more than did the trick for light gaming and everyday use, and I liked that didn't take up much space at all.
Having used this computer for a while, I thought....I could probably happily use this computer for another 5 years if I upgraded the CPU. I sometimes do some media work and the 5600 is a bit slow for those tasks compared to my 10700K in my main desktop. So seeing this 5950x reach a low of $460, I couldn't say no to the value proposition of running 32t/16 core workloads and still be able to stay in the thermal limits of my ITX case with a 240mm water cooler.....and it worked. I can easily run rings around my 10700K for encoding tasks, and the whole thing stays cool enough.
Nice!!
If you have an AM4 platform, you can easily spruce it up with one of these or one of the X3D variants and still get another few years out of them.....no need to jump to AM5. You can wait it out until the 9000 AMDs are discounted heavily, you get the best value per dollar spent by staying one generation behind when the previous gen goes on discount like this.

don’t buy this cpu at full price. If you’re building a new pc, go for newer generation platforms. If you are looking to upgrade an AM4 platform, get the 3800x3d if you only game (it’s literally the best gaming cpu for AM4). ONLY GET THIS IF YOU KNOW WHY YOU NEED IT. Do you render 4K videos in production setting? No? Get 3800x3d. Do you render 3d projects or work with autoCAD? No? Get the 3800x3d. It is not a good deal nor great for gaming. It also runs REALLY HOT. Make sure you have a very strong cooling solution.

ordered this cpu and was excited and looking forward to install it. when i installed it nothing came up on display. i had the latest bios updated, everything. it would sometimes boot up but would give me a blue error code. took it out and then put in my old cpu and it worked perfectly fine. turns out they sent me a faulty cpu and was really frustrated with this.

This was an upgrade from a 3800x to a 5950x. The chip runs a little hot at around 53C for my PC. Aside from that its working as expected. Very good for VMs, and rendering.

Upgraded from a Ryzen 7 8 core to this and the improvement in my game was immediately visible. Arrived quickly and was easy to install. Did not come with thermal paste so make sure to get your own. Was able to use with my motherboard with an easy update to the BIOs. Great quality and excited for the future with the powerful CPU.
