Product mounts failed **Update** Jan 3 2024
UPDATE JAN 3 2024: Akaso Customer service reached out to me a couple of days ago offering to replace the unit. Upon opening the package it is well worth noting that the brackets that I had a problem with have been redesigned and updated. These mounting brackets appear much stronger and I will say as well a much stronger material bringing the overall quality of the mounts to a much higher standard. I will not have any concerns mounting this to my motorcycle in the spring. I very much appreciate the replacementThis being my first purchase in terms of an "action Camera" like most I researched it extensively and by and large it is indeed not a GoPro, it would seem that the overwhelming majority of the online reviews say that it is a close and affordable 2nd. It is also worth noting that again this is my 1st camera like this so I can't compare it to any others but my experience and review will center around the mounting process. As you can see in the picture included I will be referring to #2 mount as described in the online product manual Asako published. This mount is 2 separate pieces that are not glued of fastened together. After mounting it to my motorcycle I discovered that the camera had fallen off as a result of this mount in particular. I had assumed that it was user failure on my part and went back to the manual and there are no warnings or cautions about any of the mounts and where they should or should not be used. I was fortunate to locate the camera after my discovery but the realization was that it came off on a stretch of road where I was going 100-110km\h should it have come in contact with a pedestrian or another car the results could have been extremely bad. Imagine something as big as the palm of your hand spinning at you at highway speeds. I did get in contact with Asako and I will simply say that they have no interest in the issue because I purchased this as an Amazon Warehouse Deal. The sad reality now is that I have no idea what to expect from the camera itself as a result of the it falling off so I am going to be returning it to Amazon. To the products credit the case and camera are intact after the incident. Even if the camera worked as advertised I will not be comfortable mounting it to my bike for fear of another failure.
