Make special flavors ice cream

A Pleasant Surprise

After recently returning the Vevor compressor-style ice cream machine, I wasn’t sure if this one would do any better. So I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the AAOBOSI 2.2 quart machine and it performed as well as it did.

My experience is limited to three ice cream machines:
1. A simple Frigidaire freezer-style ice cream maker.
2. A Vevor compressor-style ice cream maker.
3. This one - the AAOBOSI 2.2 quart version

The Frigidaire worked reasonably well - it would take about 30 - 40 minutes to make the ice cream. It would be about the thickness of a Wendy’s Frosty when the motor started repeatedly auto-reversing, signalling that it could go no further. It left fairly thick layer of frozen ice cream along the walls of the container that is a bit difficult to scrape off.

The Vevor unit was defective - the motor stopped turning while the ice cream was still liquid, so it was returned. It was also fairly loud while it was churning.

The AAOBOSI is my latest. I’ve only used it twice and both results were interesting. For the first batch I stretched the recipe from the usual 3 1/2 cups of liquid (Heavy Cream and Milk) to 4 cups. It defaulted to 60 minutes so I left it at that time. The machine churned for the full 60 minutes and then stopped. The ice cream was once again about the thickness of a Frosty, but there was no frozen area along the container walls so that was good.

I made another batch a day later - this time I bumped the timer from 60 to 75 minutes (just to make sure) and left the liquid at the traditional 3 1/2 cups. The machine ran about 60 minutes but this time the ice cream was firm enough to eat immediately (maybe a little harder than soft ice cream). This is the first time I’ve made ice cream and eaten it in an ice cream cone without first putting it in the freezer for 4 - 5 hours. Impressive.

So this machine takes longer to churn the ice cream (about 60 minutes), but it does a thorough job. It was also the quietest of the three by a noticeable margin.

I love icecream, but was tired of paying a lot for it, only to have it melt before I got home. I had wanted a machine for a long time, but was discouraged at the thought that I would have to freeze the dish befor using it. Then I saw this unit, and the price was reasonable, so I took a risk, and purchased it. Boy am I glad I did. I love how easy it is to use and clean. The resulting icecream is very yummy. I made the basic recipe for rich milk icecream, and the result is like the high quality icecream shop soft icecream.
It has a nice smooth texture, with no crystals, and a very nice flavour. I highly recommend it.

It was a success on the first try, and I really enjoyed it. Next time, I'll try making vanilla ice cream with egg yolks—it should taste even better. I quite like the ice cream maker with a freezer bowl. I keep the bowl in the freezer, and it's very convenient to take out when needed. The machine doesn't take up much space, fitting nicely in the cabinet, and it has a single switch button. I personally prefer such simple machines, as I only use the basic functions even if it comes with various features. So, I'm very satisfied with this machine. It's great value for the money.

It’s not quite the consistency of ice cream, but if you find a recipe that works, you’ll have a nice treat. Be sure tub is frozen the day before and ingredients are blended and then refrigerated. Then start the machine before you sit down for dinner because you need to eat it as soon as the machine stops or it will melt. If you freeze it, it will be too frozen to scoop. Have fun experimenting. It takes a few tries, even though it’s a simple appliance. It’s a good way to prepare a yummy sugar free cold dessert.

I was wanting to make home-made ice cream for my grandkids but without the hassle of turning it manually. Looked at several options and decided on the AAOBOSI 2.2 Quart Ice Cream Maker. It is a heavy machine and does take up some counter space, but it does its job well. When the ice cream gets frozen to a certain point, it no longer goes through the paddle, but spins with the paddle. No complaint, just letting you know. It doesn't make a lot of ice cream at a time, just 1.5 qts. If you can judge your mixture properly. I knew this going in. But I like that I can make a few batches of different flavors fairly quickly. The first day we made banana, mango and vanilla. Yum! I highly recommend it.

I would really like to give it 5 stars. Here is the good. I used to use my gallon electric ice cream machine. The old fashion kind that I paid 50 bucks for. This one is quite a bit more expensive but way worth the money. With it freezing by itself that means you don't have to pre freeze the container. The other great thing is you don't have. You just pull it straight up to get it out after using. It's also much quieter than the one I had. It also beeps when it's down but I do wish it were a little louder. Now, the bad and ugly. I didn't hear the beep that it was finished. I had just looked at it 15 minutes prior to going back just to look at it and it was done. In other words, I am not sure how long it had stopped. But, the container wouldn't come out at all. It had froze to the sides. It didn't do that the first few times. However, the first few time I heard the beep on the machine. I didn't want my ice cream to melt so I took it out from the machine with the container still in it. I then began to wipe the container clean. and was able to get it out. It only took a minute or two. I wasn't sure if I hadn't taken out the ice crem how long it would have taken. In the future I will pay more attention to it after it has been in the machine for 40 minutes. I am hoping this is an isolated incident. Otherwise, it's been wonderful so far. I love not having to put more ice in or worry about overage. Just pour it and wait. I love ice cream and will be making it allot more often with this ease of use. I highly recommend this product.
