Perfect introduction for the curious artist
I have been on the fence about purchasing this product for months - and I should not have!I am normally a classic type painter (oil, acrylic, watercolour) and actually find sketching to be more daunting than anything. However, after hitting the thickest artist block I’ve ever encountered in my life I sought inspiration on YouTube. I have since subscribed to at least a dozen Youtubers and watched the majority of them use this medium to create impressive artworks in relatively short periods of time. At first I told myself this would never be my thing because I prefer a paintbrush than any marker, pencil crayon or pencil. However, to take out all of my paints, canvas/paper and set up a temporary workspace proved to be time consuming, especially when you only have about an hour to spare. So after doing research and watching art reviews on the different brands of markers (alcohol and water based) I arrived at the conclusion that I could not afford to go all out into a medium I wasn’t sure would work for me *cough*copics*cough*. So when these were finally released as a brush tip, I decided to just take the plunge and get the 48 marker set. I now regret not purchasing the larger size! These markers are very fun to experiment with, produce an intense colour, and blend beautifully, much like a watercolour (though not perfectly). I am now able to enjoy sketching again if only to test out my colour palettes and designs. I might not be able to make a masterpiece from them yet, but I certainly see the potential. And I can manage to do this all an hour before bed. So convenient!!!! Also, the storage case is lovely and very durable. Another great selling feature. The only cons at this point I would have to say is the lack of pastels available. There are limited pastels of course but I find that the colours are still a bit too strong and I can’t dilute them well. These colours may be available in the larger set, but as I don’t need repeats right now (just purchased them), I might have to resort to purchasing these hues from a different brand. Not the biggest problem, but having the ability to buy smaller sets or customize a palette would be amazing. Perhaps in the future! And as I used these comments and pictures to base my judgement on, here is my contribution. Definitely give this marker set a chance!

This product was everything I wanted it to be!! I came to know about Ohuhu after watching DrawingWiffWaffles youtube videos. She highly recommended these markers so i thought I'd give them a buy.

OHUHU has made a great choice to release the brush nib because it is absolutely smooth and wonderful, it feels as though you are painting. The colors are vibrant, but not too many are pale. For pale colors I recommend the pastel rose and pastel blue and some of the light yellowish greens. Also Blending is a dream with ohuhu markers! Seriously worth the price.

However I do wish that the 48 set had more skin tones. Theres only one dark brown marker and like two light beiges. I'm aware I'll probably have to buy the separate skin tone markers set that ohuhu released. But that is very inconvenient because some of the colors match the ones in the 48 set.

Overall I really love these markers. They're my first professional art markers and the price isn't to intimidating either. These markers also work great with printer paper so no need to buy expensive marker paper to help blend colors together.
The flow of the markers really inspires me to make more drawings. Highly recommend Ohuhu for both beginners and professionals!!!

Super good and pigmented
Reviewed in Canada on August 13, 2021
Size: 48-colorVerified Purchase
I purchased the 48 pack set of these markers to start learning how to blend colour and for basic colouring exercises. Copics are wonderful, and I use their sketch set among a few others, but markers are expensive to get started with, so I was looking for an alternative that wouldn't set me back $400+ for a substantial sized set. I tried Prismacolor before picking up the Ohuhu and they were neither this juicy nor this vibrant, and the brush and chisel tips are sold as two separate products (WHY???), which adds up very quickly. Several reddit posts and youtube videos directed me to Ohuhu and this 48-pack set felt like a less daunting upfront investment. It's been about a week and I'm enjoying using them immensely.

Pros: The markers are very saturated and "juicy" compared to others in this price range.
They are dual ended (chisel and brush), which is ideal. It saves space and money.
VERY cost effective. A 48 set run around $1.00 a marker, where as the cheapest you will find for something like a copic sketch is around $3.50-4.00. That adds up.
They blend very, very well. Arguably, almost identical to copic, and they can be used together to really good effect! This is especially useful to know for those of you who, like me, go into this investment planning on replacing the markers that run out with copic equivalents.

Cons: As much as I rave about these markers, they aren't perfect.
The Ohuhu markers are not refillable. So if you run out, you have to replace it. Even worse, you can't just replace one marker at a time, making the Ohuhu system hard to justify as a long term investment. You either have to buy a whole new set, or look to another brand.
The colours on the caps don't match the colour of the marker accurately. You MUST rely on the colour chart. Fortunately, it is included for you in the set, but this is a pretty major con, in my opinion.
The set is very midtone heavy. It was recommended to me that I supplement this with a pastel set of some sort. I can't speak to the Ohuhu pastels or skin tones, but I use the copic ciao pastel and skin sets and it seems to fit all my beginner needs, but a 48 set of markers really should have a better selection of light colours. For the price point, this isn't particularly concerning, but it does make the Ohuhu pack less of a "complete" set.

I can't speak to the colour selection in the larger sets and if it addresses the gaps of the 48 set, but if you are a beginner who just wants to get started with markers and are willing to supplement a few extra colours (skin tones and pastels specifically) with either another Ohuhu set, or some copics, this is definitely the set for you. It's a great base to begin learning with, and it's very affordable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Ohuhu Alcohol Markers-120 Brush-Chisel set

I'm a crafter, not a professional artist. Therefore, I didn't want to spend exorbitant amounts of money on buying Copic Markers. I kept putting off buying alcohol markers for a very long time because it was something I was unfamiliar with, not wanting to waste money on junk, or markers that would sit unused. I always want to put hard earned money to good use. Based on what I've had experience with, crafting with friends, free samples, product testing, etc., these Ohuhu markers are just as wonderful to work with as Copics. They are "juicy", smooth flowing, heavily pigmented, nice range of colors and varying hues, easy to blend and bought on sale for $80 (b4 tax). I keep them stored horizontally (as recommended) when I'm using other mediums, and they are good to go when I want to use them again.

Value: For my money, these are definitely worth it, and have already paid for themselves with my small card-making business (very small). I don't feel the need to buy a higher priced brand. My next purchase to expand this set would probably be the 48 Mid-Tone, which Ohuhu states there would not be any duplicates. (SECRET: as of this writing, if you buy the 168 and 48-mid tone brush/chisel sets, each with a 5% coupon, it totals $141.05 b4 tax, which is a $20 savings. It would give you the same colors as the 216 brush/chisel set that costs $169.99-5%.)

Organizing: For me, I found it easier arranging them alphanumeric rather than shade. When I am deciding on shades, I refer to my swatch sheet (pic #3), then pull the marker from the case. An aesthetic drawback of these markers is that the colored caps are not always an exact match to your inked color. I recommend that you make swatch sheets for each type of cardstock, or specific paper type, you use to give you a true color result. You will be happier with your end results, and proud of your projects.

Length of use: I tested every marker immediately when they arrived to make sure they were "juicy". Many reviews I've read stated Customer Service is excellent, and markers are replaced if this occurs. So use/try all of them, right away, to make sure they're good. My set is only 2-mos old, yet friends that have the same, or larger sets, ranging from 1-yr to 22-mos, and have had no issues. One person needed to flip the nib on the Black, that's it. These are NOT refillable, but you can flip the nib to get every drop. When these are brand new, be cautious removing the caps over your work because the ink may splatter. I open my markers over a small garbage pail.

Colors, Hues & Blending: Looking at my color swatch (Accent Opaque White cardstock 100# or 271gsm), some colors may look the same or too similar (ie: Y1, Y3 & Y6; BG4 & BG68), but it's deceiving. The hues of these two yellows & blue-greens, once laid down, are beautiful. The only two that are almost exact (IMHO) are R14 & R15. Blending any of the colors are a dream. While one color is still wet, it's easy blending in the next, or laying down another for depth. I've only used the colorless blender for a certain accent, not blending.

Bottom line, I am completely loving these markers and I'd buy them again. If this review helped you, in any way, please click the "Helpful" button. Let your creative spirit fly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Markers and Customer Service!
Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2021
Size: 120 count (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
What more can I say about these markers, other than the fact that they are amazing! This is my third set, after previously purchasing the 80 count fine/chisel set and the 48 count pastel brush/chisel set. I loved the brush tip so much in the pastel set, I ended up buying these to have all of the colors with the brush tip and to expand my ridiculous obsession.

Pros:
1. Great value - I have never used Copic or any of the other fancy markers, so I can't compare these to those high quality ones. But, these are amazing and they won't break your budget! If I owned Copic markers, I'd probably be too terrified to use them because of how expensive they are. At least with these, I know if I dry them out from over usage, I can replace them without having to sell a kidney.

2. Easy to use - Even if you're like me and have never used an alcohol based marker and you only really use them for coloring books, these are easy to use. Once you get used to them, you'll be in love. (I mean, they aren't Crayola water based type markers, so they ARE different - not knocking Crayola, just saying they are different). They blend/layer beautifully, and you don't get the streaks you'd typically see with regular water based markers. Plus, the colors are bright and bold, which is awesome.

3. Amazing customer service - While doing a color swatch (HIGHLY recommend, as the actual color and the marker tip don't match as closely as you'd expect), I noticed I was missing a color and received a duplicate of another color instead. In addition, one marker's lid popped off at some point, and the marker was completely dried out. I reached out to their customer service, as recommended from their paper insert that came with the markers. Not only did they respond quickly to correct the issue, they repeatedly apologized for something that was clearly an accident and followed up after the replacements were delivered to confirm I had received them and that they were the right colors and were working properly. A++ for amazing service!!

Cons (that are easily avoidable!!):
1. The markers do bleed, which I think is pretty common with alcohol markers, so not certain if that's a true con for these markers, or just a con for alcohol markers in general. So, if you are a fancy-adult-coloring book type of person, just look for single sided coloring books (or search for pictures with ugly backside pictures, lol) and make sure and use a blank page or something in between, just to be safe. The marker set does come with a handy little silicone type page to go between sheets, but it's only about 1/2 the size of a standard coloring book page, so using a piece of paper is a little easier.

2. As mentioned before, the actual color and the color on the marker don't align as closely as I would have expected. After reading reviews prior to purchasing my first set, I saw this as a common con shared. However, taking the 5-15 minutes (depending on how fast you are) to do a color swatch on the cards they provided will show you the true color and basically eliminate this issue.

Overall, if you are on the fence... Buy these - you won't be disappointed! I'll be an Ohuhu customer for life. :)

I’ve been using Ohuhu markers for the longest time. I got this particular bag because it’s has a brush tip and definitely a game changer. The colors per usual lay down smoothly, very bright, there’s never any bleeding and it’s Really Easy to use, and the size fits very well in my hands. The only thing I ever really had a problem with Ohuhu is that they have refillable markers, but they don’t have certain colors that I need. Hopefully more Refillable markers come out in the future.
