Iview 3300STB Converter Box Features
- High Definition - You can get free high definition channels with the iView 3300STB unit. You now can choose to view TV content in your preferred format- whether it be 576p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p. Simply connect an HDMI cable from the 3300STB to your TV and voila! Crystal-clear viewing at its finest. The maximum definition that the iView converter box puts out is 1080p, which should be more than adequate for watching movies and your favorite TV series.
- Electronic Program Guide - The EPG is a programm listing that's similar to paper TV guides. Access this to see a screen list of channels and shows to choose from. With the iView Digital Converter device, you can access the EPG and see the upcoming shows in grid form, just like in cable DVR.
- Auto Tuning - Auto Tuning scans for all available channels and finds available digital broadcasts for one-click programming. You won't have to do extra channel up or channel down presses just to see the next channel.

This way you can jump in-between two great shows without having to go through the shows in the middle. A customized list of channels make for better entertainment.
- Parental Control - Access this function to limit what your children can watch with a few button presses. You can disable specific channels or TV stations and set a child-safe programming via a password.

How It Works
The iView 3300STB works by acquiring digital channels coming from ATSC, Over-the-Air, or ClearQAM, unencrypted digital cable transmission. The HD content that comes out allows users to receive unscrambled digital cable signals with the use of a monthly cable provider.
From Analog to Digital
The iView Digital Converter box automatically converts the signal to be compatible with your analog unit. Analog TV owners won't need to get themselves a new TV if they don't want to.
The iView 3300STB has built-in QAM capabilities that allow you to watch unscrambled, unencrypted cable channels and supports Over-the-Air (OTA), which allows the user to receive some unencrypted digital cable channels, also known as "in-the-clear" channels.
Our iView 3300STB has a 3/4 channel switch you can toggle in the back to access analog channels in countries and areas where analog signals are still present. Broadcasting is still alive and well, even in your old TV.

Built-in Clock Function
The iView 3300STB includes a built-in clock function that displays during standby with automatic calibration.

ATSC and QAM CapabilitiesOTA (Over-the-Air) The iView Digital Box works great in ATSC, otherwise known as over-the-air or local channels. Once plugged in, the 3300STB gives you a wider range of channels you can view, with noticeably higher picture clarity. Just connect to your antenna line, scan for channels, and you're ready to go. QAM Capability The iView 3300STB comes with QAM, or Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, capability, a format that most cable companies use to transmit and encode their signals. Our converter boxes are able to pick up ClearQAM channels with a monthly cable provider that offers unscrambled, unencrypted cable. Watch local OTA channels, unscrambled digital programming and possibly some bonus channels (depending on your location). HD and SD channels become unlocked the moment you plug and successfully setup the iView 3300STB in. |
Universal Media PlayerThe iView 3300STB can act as a universal media player to play videos and music. To use the media player functions, it is required to connect a USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive to the box. The drive needs to be no bigger than 4TB in size and formatted to Fat32 or NTFS. If the storage device has any media already saved on it, those media files can be played on the Iview Box. Selecting “Pictures” will display a slide show of any pictures in JPG, BMP, or PNG format. Selecting “Music” will turn the device into a music player. This music player can play any music files in WMA, MP3, or AAC format. The final option, “Video” will allow playback of any videos in AVI, MKV, MPG, and MKV formats. During video playback, you can press the green SCHD button, on the remote, to cycle between preview and full-screen modes. |
DVR CapabilitiesRecord digital content while you're away with the iView 3300STB. Connect the box to a USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive to start recording with DVR. Plug your external drive and record movies and shows to playback later straight to your device. The DVR function can be done two ways: A recording can start and stop using the red REC and STOP buttons on the remote, respectively, allowing for impromptu recordings at any time. The device can also schedule recordings. From there, the channel, start time, and end time can be set and the box will automatically record and end at the scheduled times. This can also be set to record daily (every day, including weekends), weekly (once a week), or just once. However, the box’s recording functions are limited to one at a time and can only have no more than 30 scheduled recording jobs saved onto the box’s memory. |

That will take some getting used to! Luckily, the iView 3500 remote - if you have one - will work with the 3300. (Which begs the question: why didn't iView just package all their boxes with the 3500 remote, maybe for an extra $3 or so?)
The 3300 looks just like a smaller 3500. The only thing the 3500 has that the 3300 lacks is a coaxial audio output, which both the 3200 and 3500 have, but most folks won't miss that.
It came with a layer of clear plastic film covering the top and sides of the box. This is common to prevent scratches during shipping; it's normally removed by the end user. But iView placed a warranty seal over the film - so if you remove it completely, it will void your warranty! I carefully peeled it off the left side and top, then cut it off so the film could remain on the right side (where the seal is).
The green front-panel display shows a clock when the box is in standby. When on, it shows "boot" while booting, then the same not-very-useful internal channel number as the 3500. It shows "SCAN" during a channel scan.
In the Channel Search menu, the Modulation settings are CH_ON and CH_OFF vs. the 3500, where the settings are CH_3, CH_4, and Loop Through. Makes sense - the hardware switch in back controls whether the RF output is on channel 3 or 4, so the only thing left to do in the menu is turn the modulator on or off.
The firmware date on my unit is 2020/04/15, but so far it seems to be derived from a much older firmware version. I noticed several regressions compared to the 3200/3500:
No 12-hour time option.
When in the EPG, changing channels (with the left/right arrow keys) is buggy. You only get two lines of EPG. You have to exit and bring up the EPG again to see the full list.
If you have a channel without the -1 subchannel (or you delete it) entering the channel number without a subchannel just gives "Invalid Channel" - it won't just go to the -2 subchannel unless you press the "-2".
The mini guide that shows the current and next show when you first tune to a channel shows the word NONE on every channel. The 3200/3500 show the video resolution (480i/720p/1080i).
Here's an amazingly stupid bug: they left off the option to turn on Daylight Saving Time! So to get the right time during DST you have to intentionally select a time zone one hour ahead of your actual time zone.
Last, but definitely not least: the dreaded channel rescan bug struck today. This bug existed in early versions of the 3200/3500 firmware and causes the iView to rescan a channel occasionally when you tune to it. When this happens any recording timers set for the channel are lost or scrambled; thus, this bug prevents reliable recording on some channels.
All these bugs/quirks/annoyances have been fixed in the 3200/3500 since 2016. So, unless/until iView updates the 3300's firmware, I'd recommend an iView 3500 or 3200 instead.
