On the back, we see a rectangular module to house triple camera sensors and an LED flash. The sensors have a sizeable protrusion, meaning the phone doesn’t sit flat on any surface. OPPO Reno 12 series: what are the upgrades?

The OPPO Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro will arrive as successors to the OPPO Reno 11 lineup, which launched last year. While the display size remains the same, the peak brightness is largely improved from up to 950nits to 1200nits.

The Global/Indian models come with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy SoCs compared to Dimensity 8250 Star Speed Edition and Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition on the China variants. This is a significant upgrade from the MediaTek Dimensity 7050/8200 on the Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro, respectively.

In terms of camera, the Reno 12 gets a downgrade as the 32MP telephoto camera is being replaced by a namesake 2MP macro shooter. The 50MP primary and 8MP secondary sensors remain intact. However, the Pro variant gets a 50MP telephoto camera instead of a 32MP sensor on the Reno 11 Pro.

The fast charging speed is upgraded to 80W compared to 67W on the predecessor. The Pro variant also gets a larger 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,600mAh cell on the Reno 11 Pro.
