OnePlus seems to have started working on its next flagship, the OnePlus 13 already and we are starting to come across rumours about various aspects of the phone. We already learned the phone would pack a large 6,000mAh battery. Now, OnePlus 13 camera details have been tipped, courtesy of DigitalChatStation.
OnePlus 13 cameras might get a few upgrades
According to tipster DigitalChatStation, the OnePlus 13 cameras will be co-powered by Hasselblad much like the predecessor. The upcoming OnePlus flagship will arrive with a 50MP Sony LYT-808 primary camera, a Sony IMX882 ultra-wide angle lens, and a Sony IMX882 3x periscope sensor. In comparison, the OnePlus 12 used the same 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 64MP telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.Evidently, we get to see new periscope and ultrawide cameras on the OnePlus 13, while the primary sensor remains the same as that on the OnePlus 12. Another point to note is that the Sony IMX882 sensor is actually used on the POCO F6, Vivo T3, Vivo V30e and other mid-range phones. So its engineering on a flagship comes as a bit of a surprise. However, DCS says the optics are from an engineering model so there are chances the cameras might still undergo some tweaks before launching.
OnePlus 13: what we know so far
OnePlus 13 will arrive as a successor to the OnePlus 12. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 compared to 8 Gen 3 on the OnePlus 12 this year. The chipset could be paired with 12GB/16GB RAM and at least 256GB storage option. The phone might house a large 6.8-inch 2K 8T LTPO customised display. The screen size is similar to the OnePlus 12. We can also expect to see some AI features on the OnePlus 13.
Recent leaks suggested the flagship could pack a 6,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging compared to the 5,400mAh cell on the OnePlus 12. However, there will be no wireless charging on the new model like the predecessor, which had 50W wireless charging. This is probably to accommodate the larger capacity battery.
Lastly, the OnePlus 13 is expected to land in China in December this year and roll out globally starting in early 2025.
