Of late, many iPhone users have been complaining online that their iPhone’s alarm is not ringing even when it is set to ring, leading to disruption in their daily routines. iPhone 15 users are the major victims of this iPhone alarm issue. Apple is aware of this problem and is reportedly working on a fix. So, you would be getting a software patch anytime soon. But, in the meantime, this problem has some easy workarounds. Check them out below.
How to fix iPhone alarm issue
Official solution
- First, Apple has informed the USA’s NBC’s Today Show that it will be pushing a software update to fix this.
- So, you must update the iPhone software (iOS) as soon as you get it. We will keep you informed when the update is available.
- To update iOS, go to the iPhone’s settings. Then, go to General > Software Update > Download and install > Enter passcode if prompted and the update will begin. The iPhone may reboot in the process.
Workarounds
- Disable Attention Aware Features: This feature detects if you are looking at your iPhone’s screen and ensures it doesn’t dim. This feature also lowers the volume of your alerts whence you are looking at the screen. But, now this exact utility is believed to be what’s causing the iPhone alarm issue. So, disabling it from Settings > Face ID and Passcode > Attention Aware Features should fix the problem.
- Disable Change with Buttons option: This setting is meant to allow you control volume of alerts with the side buttons. The assumption is that people might accidentally lower the alarm volume when they unknowingly tap the lower side button. It could happen while it is present in your pocket. So, by disabling it from Settings > Sound & Haptics, you should be able to avoid the iPhone alarm problem.
- Also while you are in the Settings > Sound & Haptics section, ensure the ringtone and alerts volume slider is set to the maximum. This should ideally ring the alarm at peak volume.
